Rdutch 0 #1 August 25, 2004 It took only 3 minutes to uninstall, Gamers dont install it, almost every game I have wouldnt work with it, even the Microsoft ones. I have enough problems trying to work my games with an additional moniter (the mouse pointer goes off the screen and freezes the game) I dont need Microsoft making it harder for me to play my games. CrazyIvan 0 #2 August 25, 2004 Would you tell us your system config? I haven't installed it on my test machines, FULL review coming soon. __________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.
PhreeZone 20 #3 August 25, 2004 Don't test it unless you want all your apps to break. I wa told from a MS rep that you can tell if your app is secure or not by if it will run on SP2. Sloppy code has issues with the restricted memory space. Hence most games (even MS ones) have issues, as do some security software and middleware. We are at a 40% failure rate for tested apps so far at work Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Chivo 0 #4 August 26, 2004 When I installed sp2 it broke a bunch of apps and games I had installed. I chose to do a complete reinstall of XP, immediately after that, I installed sp2. Then installed all apps and games... haven't had any problems since. ~Chivo
rmsmith 1 #5 August 26, 2004 I have already installed xp-sp2 on our domain's workstations. I had to disable the firewall with a policy setting so that our sys-admin remote tools will still work, and we haven't had any software conflict issues.

CrazyIvan 0 #11 August 28, 2004 QuoteWould you tell us your system config? I haven't installed it on my test machines, FULL review coming soon. Well, I installed it, ran it, test it a little bit and NO PROBLEM!!!. As usual, you hear horror stories, but so far, my install went smoothly, all my programs run without a hitch, same thing accessing the net and all that. I see that SP2 detects a "third party" firewall, which is nice, since I disabled XP's firewall and pop-up blocker, etc and let my beloved Zone Alarm do its thing, no problems there. Games: I ran and played my Jedi Outcast, Painkiller and Doom 3, NO PROBLEM, but, I'll keep on testing. The only thing that I've noticed, is that on the XP splash screen, I don't see the word "Professional" anymore, as well as the "date of copyright" at the bottom left of the screen. I like it so far, my systems ALWAYS run smoothly, even my WinME systems. __________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.
