It's All Clays Fault

Recommended Posts

Air Tran is the most whacked out airline I have ever dealt with. These people loaded us on a plane in BWI. 20 mins later or so, they tell us there is a mechanical problem. Then we unload the plane, to find out that the plane at the gate next DOOR has a mechanical problem, and what's really going on is they are letting those people have OUR plane (which was full) to go to Boston. They were trying to decide what to do with us 100+ people trying to get connections in Atlanta.

An hour or so later, they tell us to go to another gate, where one poor girl had to deal with everyone. They said we'd be boarding in a few minutes. Funny, those few minutes come and go with no updates. SOmeone then declares there must be weather somewhere.they gave us $7 food vouchers (you can't get anything for $7 in the airport, and they wouldn't take it for beer!) and finally stuck us on a plane. Of course, we missed our connection. Finally, our 6:11 PM flight left Atlanta at 10:45 PM.

It's all Clay's fault. I'm sure these things dont happen when he's around. >:(

Sorry your experience sucked so much Stacy...glad ya got home! ive had a similar headache on airtran...a few times...

haha ive flownwith them a few times since theyre so cheap....one thing ive noticed about them...they overbook there flights alll the time! So if you ever fly with them, leave some flexibility in your schedule cause theyll offer you 2 free roundtrip tickets if you offer to get off...and theyll put you up in a nice hotel if you have to stay overnight :)
In addition to the overbooking, they dont seem like the morst organized airline on the ground...luckily once you leave the airport everything seems to go much better! If you ever give up your seat to get the free tickets make sure you look at the new tickets they give you! I offered to get off once and they gave me a ticket for the next dayexcept instead of a flight back to NY the put me on one back to Florida....as much as i would have loved to go to Florida again i needed to get back home...i went back to them and they told me the flights for the next day back to NY were booked....they learned very quickly not to piss off a New Yorker. So they oversold mme another ticket for the morning flight back home...i remember them not being able to get volunteers to get off the plane...id hate to be the person who gets told, sorry you cant get on the place-its full.:S

the good thing about the airline is that they are cheap...but considering all the headaches, I guess you get what you pay for....

One nice thing I've found about AirTran is that the charge to upgrade to first class is cheaper than other airlines if it is available. I flew Airtran between LaGuardia and Atlanta a few times, and at LaGuardia they (or they did) have only one single gate, which meant you always spent time sitting out on the runway - for me, for more than an hour on two different occasions.

The upgrade was only $25 (don't know if that is normal or just happened to be a special situation the two times I've done it).

Worth every penny when just sitting there at the end of a long trip!!!

Stacy, I too had nightmares with travel yesterday and I blame Clint.

I left Skydive Pepperell and headed to the Manchester Airport about 3:00 p.m. only to find out my flight on US Airways had been delayed. That would have made me late for my connecting flight in Pittsburgh. But lucky me, U.S. Airways tells me that they will put me on a flight with United that is direct. Only one problem, I have to get to Boston to get onto that flight. Since I don't have a car, U.S. Airways gives me a voucher to get a taxi ride. Okay, that works for me. Arrive to the curb to get a taxi, and it seems none of the drives will take a voucher >:( Go back to U.S. Airways counter, and a nice airline rep comes out with me with check book in hand and writes a check to a taxi guy. Get into the taxi and start driving. It's Sunday evening, and the Interstate is crowded, and were driving about 20 miles per hour. But, it's okay, as I haven't see this area of the country and learned a long time ago, that getting stressed doesn't help the situation. Plus I'm thinking I'll have to just send U.S. Airway a copy of my CC statement, because I will have to missed the flight and will have stay the night in Boston. That was so going to work for me, hit some of the local stuff, call my boss and tell her I'm sorry but I would miss the first day of back to work after having the whole summer off. Turns out the United flight was delayed, and I made that flight. Arriving home about 2:00 a.m. and am now back to work. I've got my deaf clients all line up, and plan on closing the office door to get a nap:)

I did NOTHING.....:D That sounds fairly normal for ANY airline about this time of year. Thunderstorms in the summer.....snow in the winter. Mechanicals...it's always something. I was fairly close to totally losing it yesterday. On a flight from BWI to Cleveland. Boarding is delayed......Why? They can't get the coat closet open and the demo equipment is in there. Can't fly without a safety demo. :S Then the stupid cunt at the gate decides she would like to see my ID....Picture this.....I'm standing at the front of the line. Boarding is now delayed about 1/2 hour. EVERYONE has their eye on the front of the line and this stupid cunt wants to see my ID. I just laughed and stuck it about an inch from her nose. Whats worse....she wasn't being an asshole. She was just that stupid to think there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with asking for my ID at that time. :S Oh yeah.....and they let all of first class board before my partner and I. So.....I get on and my bag has to go over the first row of coach. So....now I have to spend the ENTIRE flight watching my bag like a hawk just in case anyone gets snoopy. Certain things in there I'd rather people didn't get their hands on. Oh....and then there's the guy with no shoes or socks on putting his nasty feet up on the first class bulk head. Some days...I'm just not sure how I keep my sanity. The poor girl next to me. :D She was really friendly and wanted to chat with me. I tried to be as nice as possible but she quickly caught on that I was in no mood. :S I could go on for hours.....what a week that was!
