AggieDave 6 #1 August 31, 2004 Does anyone here have a Mustang Seat for their motocycle? Anyone know anybody else that does? I'm considering purchasing a new saddle for my bike and was looking at Mustang, but wanted to talk to someone who had one before I did.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." usedtajump 1 #2 August 31, 2004 My Magna had one on it when I got it. I replaced it with a Corbin because the Mustang seemed to sit me closer to the handlebars than I like and was somewhat uncomfortable after about an hour of riding. The Corbin sits about three inches further back and that's a more comfortable position for me. Don't get butt burn nearly as quick on the Corbin. Just my experience. though. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
AggieDave 6 #3 August 31, 2004 That's the info I'm after. The stock seat on my Vulcan sucks after an about an hour or so, and I was looking for something a bit more comfy for those long trips.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." usedtajump 1 #4 August 31, 2004 I have yet to find a stock seat on a cruiser type MC that was worth crap. Every bike I've owned, the first thing done to it was replace the stock seat with a Corbin. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
Kris 0 #5 August 31, 2004 Corbin, period. That's what I've always put on my sportbikes. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
SkymonkeyONE 4 #6 August 31, 2004 Mustang seats are incredibly poorly constructed as compared to several other, much-better seats (LePera, Corbin). Mustang baseplates are plastic and the covers are simply stapled to them. LePera has steel base plates and the covers are riveted on. Corbin has fiberglass baseplates and the covers are also riveted. Mustang is the K-mart of aftermarket seats.
rickjump1 0 #7 August 31, 2004 The Corbin is so much better than the stock seat on my Road King Classic.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
Dumpster 0 #8 August 31, 2004 All I've heard around the shop, etc, is Mustang is "OK" if you want the look but don't plan on spending a long time in the saddle. The way to go is either Corbin or LePera, if you've got the bucks. Easy Does It
PhillyKev 0 #9 August 31, 2004 Haven't tried them myself, but Saddlemen supposed to make some really good stuff I hear They have gel filled saddles to be soft on your delicate bum. http://www.saddlemen.com
SkymonkeyONE 4 #10 August 31, 2004 Actually, every Saddleman seat I have ever seen was of the same cheap construction as a Mustang. I have a custom embroidered Lepera Sillouette Solo on my sled nowadays, but used to run a Corbin "50" gunfighter.
Gravitymaster 0 #11 August 31, 2004 I'd recommend you at least sit on a seat and preferably ride a bike that has the seat you are interested in before buying. What is comfortable to one person isn't exactly the same for everyone. Like buying a rig. Some like Javelin, Vector etc. Try going to one of the biker evnts in your area. With that said, Corbins rock.
PhillyKev 0 #12 August 31, 2004 I have a Lepera Silhouette, too. It's well made but after an hour or so, my butt gets numb.
Deuce 1 #13 August 31, 2004 I had a Corbin Gunfighter and Lady on my Katana 1100. My wife really liked the detachable backrest, and it was way more comfortable than stock. No comparison. I'm going to have another one made for my K1200, but that means I'll have to skydive right around the corner at Hollister while they construct it. Dang.
