I guess the Lakers' gamble paid off...

It is a disgrace that these prosecutors have brought a case on such flimsy grounds," Jeffrey Toobin said.

I think this quote says it all. The prosecution should not have taken this case until they figured it was airtight. This one had so many holes in it. They would have been better off walking away from it before charging him.

THink of the power of the civil lawsuit, had it been the only one. Now people will talk about Kobe's victory as opposed to the civil suit he faces.

The prosecution took the case because of her injuries, the fact that her blood was on his clothing and his statement to them that he knew she consented by the way she looked at him. It is not normal for a sexually active woman to bleed during consensual sex. He bent her over a chair and @#$%^& her without even taking his shirt off.

I can't see him many commercial endorsements in his future!

After the OJ fiasco, I don't understand how a prosecution team can press charges without an airtight case. They KNEW Kobe would throw every $ he has into his defense team, and if there were any weak points, the case would crumble. Well, hopefully he was innocent anyway. And if he wasn't, I'll second Tuna's quest for fame...

Even if it was simply a "He said, she said" case, I don't think the prosecution had much of a choice. It was too high profile. If they didn't proceed, they'd be accused of favoritism. But I also think the physical evidence and the statements Bryant made to the police were more than enough for them to proceed.

I'm going to give my two cents on this case...

Kobe's defensive stratagey pretty much worked. They contacted the "Vicitim" told her what they were going to do to her on the stand. (Rip her to shreds) Then offered a deal.

Refuse to take the stand so the State has to drop all charges for lack of a material witness. Keep your Civil lawsuit going and we'll settle out of court for some ungodly non-disclosed amount. You've gotten paid, Kobe is free to walk the streets. This is a win win sitation for us both.

Now that is all speculation on my part.. but extremely feesible.

Thinks that make you go hmmmmm... B|
