I don't think Frank has been in Lake Wales for a couple of weeks. The Otter that was there was flown to Chester this past Saturday. The Lake Wales airport was closed to skydivers until the debris can be cleared. Liability was given as the reason for the shut down. Ed
jlmiracle 7 #9 September 3, 2004 QuoteThe Lake Wales airport was closed to skydivers until the debris can be cleared I thought they had been jumping there. bbarnhouse 0 #13 September 4, 2004 QuoteYeah, they were until a city official became concerned. It is just one "kick in the teeth" after another for Lake Wales. Not only that but due to the devastation, Lake Wales has had to postpone the 2nd World Cup of canopy piloting. I really feel for Betty, Debby and the crew. Drop zones turn a lot less profit than folks would think. Mother Nature ...lets hope she is a bit kinder this time around. B2
kallen 0 #14 September 4, 2004 Actually, Frank was moved from Lake Wales to CSS in NC after Hurricane Charley. He needed some repairs to the rudder and leading edges of the wings. Those repairs were completed and he has flown jumpers at CSS for the past two weekends. If the projected storm track holds true, he should be safe from Frances. I hope everyone else is safe from her also. Hurricanes, they make living and jumping on the US East Coast very interesting.
