markd_nscr986 0 #1 September 6, 2004 I took a week off and went to Puerto Vallarta and did some diving at different locations around the bay.Water temp was perfect weather was hot but not to bad and generally the rain didnt start until 4 or 5pm.Vis wasnt the greatest varied from 25 to 45 ft.The last day of diving we went out to El Morro,a collection of rocks and seamounts a good way offshore.Vis was 140+,loads of marine life and coral, lobster everywhere, lots of schooling fish and out of the blue......a 12ft MANTA RAY!!!!!!!!!!! It swam with us for a few minutes, very curious kind of checking us out......I blew through 300 lbs of air when I saw it!!The biggest animal I have seen underwater.Completely at ease with us,a totally benign presence and it literally "flew" through the water.Circled around feeding on plankton did a few more passes by us,3 of us swam with it in formation(a "diamond") and then it disappeared into the blue.......Totally awesome experience, and I cant wait to go back!!!Marc SCR 6046 SCS 3004
