I broke my collar bone on Sat. The doc at the ER said it would be about 3-4 months until I was jumping again. If you've had this type of injury how long did it ground you?

Ed, what happened? :o Cocheese broke his collarbone about the 3rd week in June, and he was back in then air about 2 months later, I believe. (Don't quote me on that, though.) PM him for more info. He's jumping at a boogie this weekend, so you may not get a hold of him right away.

Unsucessfully trying to run out a landing. lol

Eh'?! Next time, run with your feet, not your shoulders.:P Get well soon!

Or have Nightingale show you how to do a ninja flip, hyeaeehh!

But just remember to take out the riser twists caused by the step through before you pack it again.

Classic site for the break, too...traditionalist! :P

I broke my collarbone when I was a kid... as I remember, it was about 2 - 2.5 months all told for me to heal, and I still had some work related soreness (stressing the break site) for a month or two afterwards.

Healing from a broken bone is so dependent on individual issues....it's hard to make more than a generalization.

Done plenty of fast down winders on grass and sand/beach. Learnt one main thing in that if you land fast SLIDE! Both feet out in front together on a mostly upward angle and out to either side if you can't do that. Have done it too many times and still have a grass scar on one leg but walked away from all of them! Easy to say after the fact and not knowing the situation but plan everything with height available!! A good ol pilots rule also lol! -Mark.

Ed, I told you to quit your hot-dogging around in that canopy. . .lol. . .you should know that following me in on landing could be dangerous - I'm flying the tuna boat and you have a hot rod.

Seriosly though, I am glad it wasn't worse. . .take care and get better soon okay. . .

See, that's not good. Chick's Rock is coming up, and I wanted another jump with you! Well, I guess I can wait, you know?

Heal fast, heal completely, and I'm sending some "get well soon" vibes down your way.

You are done until it is done healing.

The Collar bone is tailor made for disabling an opponent.

Without the collar bone working, you simply cannot use the shoulder for lifting or pushing. For such a smallish bone, it is critically important.

Drink your milk (preferably in nonfat latte's) and take your conjointen, and get well.

Ouch. Sorry.

Damn Ed,
That sucks.
I was out for a LONG TIME but My break was a little worse then I what I can see in your xray. I was out for a total of (just under) 7 months. but in that time I saved enough $$ to buy my first (and brand new) rig, and helmet.

my clavicle still bothers me sometimes. Its been 4 years! ( i dont know how long youve been reading but if you ask the oldtimers they'll probably remeber me whining about it.( i was trying to catch a frisbee while playing "ultimate frisbee" -- I dove and the ground kicked my ass:ph34r:)

But can you find me a latte? :P

It's called Glucosamine HCI and Chondroitin Sulfate. It's a supplement for joints that seems to help my knees, ankles, and feets. I get it at Costco, but the name brand version is Osteo Bi-Flex

How the heck did you break the thing anyhow?
