champu 1 #1 September 6, 2004 Has anyone else ever noticed that almost all recommended microwave times are multiples of 15 seconds? I don't see why the obvious solution hasn't been seen all this time. I demand a microwave oven that is 15 times as powerful as current models. a minute and a half for oatmeal? more like an eternity and a half, am I right? 3 minutes for soup? screw that. I want it in 12 seconds.
AggieDave 6 #2 September 6, 2004 The original commercial microwave was much more powerful then what we have now. Of course it had to have a special cooling system installed into the house for it and it was very VERY expensive. However, it cooked full meals in literally a minute, it was very powerful.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." quade 4 #3 September 6, 2004 There are things you want cooked fast and there are things you want cooked slow. One of the problems with microwave ovens is they still cook things pretty fast and so, most things end up tasting like crap. Making things more powerful will only get you food that tastes like crap faster. Who needs that?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

What's the world coming to when waiting a few minutes for something that used to take 20-30 mins to make seems too long? Next time try doing some push ups or sit ups for that minute and a half while it cooks"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

I never have used a crock pot for it, nor taken more than two or three hours to get it done. Why would it be so much better in a crock pot? (I don't know of any 3 gallon crock pots, by the way...) And I love it when it's reheated in the microwave! It even gets better! Blue skies, --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" peacefuljeffrey 0 #14 September 7, 2004 I make kickass chili -- the secret is a load of different kinds of beans (like five or six) and green pepper and black olives. jose 0 #21 September 7, 2004 I bought this little baby a couple years back.....they kick ass. Not only are they ridiculiously fast, but they brown, roast, crisp....damn near everything. I can cook a salmon steak in this thing in about 6 minutes and it tastes amazing. I also got it for about 600 bucks, brand new. Magnetrons, S-band microwave radiation, dielectric heating.... all a bunch of hogwash. Shorter wavelength radiation up in the Ka/Q-band tuned to the resonant frequency of water molecules should still heat food and be able to penetrate completely through just about anything you'd stick in a microwave. You'd prolly have to get rid of the glass door on the front cause the shorter wavelength waves would be more adept at passing through smaller meshes, but who cares if your burrito only has to be out of sight for a couple seconds? /edited cause I broke the reply tags
