wildblue 7 #2 September 8, 2004 AT&T and Cingular are one now. AT&T always had great coverage when I used them, should be even better now with the addition of Cingular (or at least in the near future should be even better)it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Nightingale 0 #4 September 8, 2004 actually, I've heard that cingular's coverage has gotten worse, from people who have their service. Verizon. hands down.
Misslmperfect 0 #5 September 8, 2004 yes! i have a national plan, so i dont pay for roaming....BUT if you didnt have my plan and you drove to the next town, you'd be paying roaming rates. cingular's coverage area is sketchy. it makes NO sense. i live about 40 minutes from downtown chicago, cingular stores everywhere, yet i still roam and lose my signal. however, i can go to backwoods west virginia in the ohio valley and have a perfect signal. oh well, its better then nextelOh Canada, merci pour la livraison! Conundrum 1 #6 September 8, 2004 I've had Verizon, Sprint, Cingular and AT&T. I found that customer service for Sprint was the best, but coverage was best from Verizon.
FlyingJ 0 #7 September 8, 2004 Guess it depends on the area. I had few problems with Sprint in NY, but my service around Atlanta sucks. Plus, I lose service altogether 30 minutes away from the dropzone, which is in a town that Sprint says they cover. Planning on confronting them on that later this week to try to get out of my contract. My family all uses and is happy with Cingular, though that service doesn't reach the dropzone either.Killing threads since 2004.

Vallerina 2 #9 September 8, 2004 I've had Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. All had areas where you couldn't get a signal. Sprint seems to be the best for my area out of those three, though. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

DrewEckhardt 0 #11 September 8, 2004 You probably won't get the most valid answers from that question, since you can't switch more than once a year or two without paying early termination fees and it usually doesn't suck that bad. Better is "Which ones suck" and "Which services have you used" (multiple choice). # sucked / # who used = suckage factor. The lowest suckage stinks least. My Sprint phone doesn't work in Moab. Works in Eloy, Fort Dodge, and Twin Falls. Usually works in the Colorado front range (except when it drops calls). I've never managed to complete a roaming call. tigra 0 #14 September 8, 2004 I've got Cingular and I have a large "local" calling area. I'm just outside Chicago, also. Sometimes the "roam" signal comes on when I know I'm in the coverage area but I never get charged for it. (I think that can happen when the area you are in has limited cell towers.) I generally do not have a problem losing my signal. (And, no I don't have a national plan because it I don't travel all that much so it didn't seem to make sense at the time.) I've been with Cingular for several years now, and all in all, I'm happy with them.
flyangel2 2 #15 September 8, 2004 I've had great luck with customer service from Verizon. Nutz 0 #16 September 8, 2004 I have T-Mobile and they do not suck for me. It works as long as you are on a major highway, nationwide, free long distance, bunches of minutes. Oh and Sam, it works at the dz. "Don't! Get! Eliminated!"
skydivegirl 0 #17 September 8, 2004 QuoteOh and Sam, it works at the dz. Really? I have to walk around the hangar until I find a signal and then I can't move or I'll lose it. hmmmmmmPink Mafia Sis #
eeneR 3 #18 September 8, 2004 Just my .02 on this...each carrier is going to have its + and - and that will vary by each area. The other thing you need to consider is the phone you are using. Each phone can have a whole different level of signal pic up. I have been with people and have had the same carrier....and I had a strong signal and they didnt. When I bought the phone I have, I did research to find out which model had the best rep for the strongest signal. Hey Mary! My phone works great at SDC Edited to add: I use Sprint and yes i have certain "dead zones" but they really dont seem to effect me to much. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

councilman24 37 #20 September 8, 2004 I have an ALLTEL National Freedom plan. It's trimode digital cellular, versus analog (almost gone),bi mode digital cell. or PCS , Personal Communication System (i.e. Sprint) Included minutes are good anywhere in 49 states to anywhere in 49 states. A couple of lost signals in the middle of Kansas and in the boonies in northern MI but that's about it. If you look at Sprint for a coverage map you'll see mainly follows highways. My trimode dig. cell will use anybodies digital cell tower. Downside, not as cheap as PCS systems.I'm old for my age. crwmike 0 #21 September 8, 2004 QuoteThe one I have SUCKS! I can barely get service in my own apartment. My contract is up this month though... YAY! Who should I switch to? It's gonna depend on where you are. I had the same problem with ATT. Sucky reception at home and at work, pretty good everywhere else in south florida. TM is great all over Florida, Atlanta, CSS area in NC, Perris area and Gulfport, Miss. The only time TM let me down was last weekend in Richmond, IN. Signal was sucky everywhere and seemed to vary greatly with 20-30 foot changes in location. It was a pisser cause I was trying to arrange flights home to Florida with Delta with the understandable wait time for a service rep ...never could hold a signal long enough to stay in the que. In summary, if you primarily use your phone in your local area, talk to people in your area and ask them what their signals are like. Good luck. Stacy 0 #23 September 8, 2004 I used to have TMobile. It was good so long as I was in a city or major area. It was wonderful up north. However in FL, It only seems to work in Orlando and on the coasts. I lost all signal every time I drove across the state. Verizon has great signals here. __
