The REAL Patriot Act

Recommended Posts

So how tight do you think the refs will call the touching by the DBs? I am still undecided. I think you'll see it called more strict but not ridiculously tight.

I haven't been able to catch too many pre-season games this year. How have they been calling the new rule so far? From what I've seen it's been a happy medium.

And for the bonus question...which pigskin nerd can be the first to tell me why this new rule has been dubbed the "Patriot Act"?

Not only Rodney Harrison but all of the NE boys were all but body slamming the Colt's receivers. It was pretty sloppy officiating.

Obviously that game isn't the only reason for the new enforcement. It's been coming for a while. The 2004 AFC Championship Game was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

the games are gonna be rather tedious to watch.

Actually it will be the opposite. You'll see a lot more passing TDs.

We'll see how it plays out. Probably see them call it tight for the first few weeks and then lighten up a tad the more we get into the season.

Personally, I'd like to see it go back to the 70's, where the DB was allowed one continuous contact. (Maybe people don't know this, but that's why so many DB's covered themselves in Stick-um - it allowed the continuous contact.)

I think the refs will call it tight. The NFL wants scoring (a pattern since the 70's, when the NFL outlawed the headslap and allowed offensive holding) and this is a better way to do it.

Man, quit being bitter because Tim Brown isn't half the receiver he is. Or are you still waking up in cold sweats at 3am over the thrashing my boys gave you in the big dance?
