Well, thankfully everything turned out well with my house. I did have flooding in my area, but it didn't quite reach the level of my house.

I definitely lucked out, though. My next door neighbor had a tree fall onto his roof, and the flooding DID enter his house. So, it certainly could have been worse.

A tree did knock down my power and phone lines in my back yard, so I don't know how long I'll be without power. I think I'm going to head to Orlando for a few days. I'm sure I redefine "stink" right now, so taking a shower would be awesome!

Ivan definitely needs to stay away, though.

Glad you're Ok any news from the others, I'm in Jupiter we got power back last night, my condo roof has alittle bit of damage all the trees are down huge trees down looks like a battle zone, I'm glad I still have a place, including the new town house I bough is fine, is my first Hurricane and I was right in the middle, the eye of the storm give me a chance to go back to my condo and asset the damage since I was staying with my moms a block away, the second hit was stronger than the first one, I don't care what they say!!! this was a CAT 2 can't imagine anything bigger. I will leave the country for the next one this shit is scary and it sucks.

Hope every body made it Ok, let me know if I can help in any way .

In Broward power outages were pretty spotty. Our apartment lost power at 9:30am on Friday and we didn't get it back until a few hours ago. Half of my family's houses had power, half did not. A lot of trees are down in Century Village Deerfield Beach (old people community), and there is overall a lot uprooted foliage around the county. I'm at work in Sunrise and there was no power loss here at all.

All in all, this could have been a LOT worse for us in Broward County, we definitely lucked out. A friend of mine near Tampa got flooded out, 2 feet of water in her home in Riverview. I hope Lake Wales fared ok, I am worried for them because they hadn't had a chance yet to recover from Charley.

Happy cleaning everyone. As long as we have our lives and our gear, all else is replaceable;)

Angela.

Haven't gone home just yet, it's still a bit windy here in Tampa. I'm holding out...well, until the beer is gone, at least.

Glad to hear Sebastian didn't fare any worse in the storm.

wow. deland is a fucking wreck. flooded and trees down everywhere. the dropzone sustained some damage - the doors to the hangar blew off and into the Perfect Spot parking lot. the worst parts for me were the tornado warnings saturday night. i slept in the closet. :D mar, this was after you called saturday night. things deteriorated RAPIDLY afterwards.

I think we has sustained winds of 60-ish mph thru the day sunday. trees were blowing over like crazy thru the neighborhood. kim and kev's neighborhood looked like a warzone - or a giant paintball field. BIG trees down everywhere.

i lost power (and subsequently water due to having a well/pump) saturday night and my landline yesterday. my nextel cell quit working early on. kim just called the gear store to tell me that the service call is in on my landline - could be now til the 18th to come out. [:/]

parts of deland have power (TSO-D has it - yeah!! my neighborhood, does not :() and there are wicked crazy lines to get gas. glad i don't need any. :)

driving thru neighborhoods is like playing labrynith. dodging trees and debris and shit to get thru.

in the grand scheme of things, we're all doing great. i have my health, my friends are good, we are a little inconvenienced, but no complaints from me. it's nothing like the folks have after charley. i wish everyone the best in getting order restored after this wicked long storm.

i just found out arby's is open so i'm outta here to get some hot food. :P

I'm back home and finally have power back on. I'm really amazed because there were huge trees laying on power lines in the neighborhood next to mine. Those workers are really doing a good job. There are downed trees everywhere, which is to be expected after 2 days of high winds. Just when you thought it was going to stop, another band would hit again. I don't have any damage to my house, thank goodness.

Yesterday (Sunday) we lost power at 1pm, we got it back today at 5pm. No power means no running water too.

I didn't lose any trees, but my neighbors fell on my fence. I didn't even lose any major limbs. The trees are so close that they beat each other up during every storm (Florida, think every day).

One neighbors lost a shed and most of them lost a small section of fence.

We went to a restaurant for breakfast this morning. The kitchen was being run on a generator and they had the doors open to let air through.

sarasota wasn't too bad, just lots of rain and breeze. Our neighborhood lost power at 2pm yesterday, still not back up, so I am at Jaimes Saine's place putting our frozen goods into his freezer....

Well, that was some 3 day weekend! :S

We lost cable at 1100 yesterday and power at 1143. We had sustained winds of around 60mph from 1600 to midnight or so last night. Lots of rain.

All came back a little after 1900 this evening.

Lynn, Helen, and I are just fine. Our neighbors two doors down lost their storage shed and screen room to a tree and the ones on the other side had a tree fall right next to their hose, but no damage. We had one large branch bounce off our screen room roof and dent it, but no holes punched. A house on the other side of the street at the corner from us had their entire carport peeled off and dumped into the collector pond behind.

Still waiting for definitive word from Sebastian; I know there is no power down there, but all the indications are that The Drop Shop survived.B| Thank you to TPTB.

Well, my informants who foolishly rode out the hurricane in Sebastian (while I was safely hiding out in Raeford) said the dz is fine except for the fact that the packing hanger is history. I'm not sure why it's all still standing but it is. (Guess we wont be rebuilding in the new area, yet.)

The plane is still in New Jersey. I'm heading back today and hopefully clean up has started. I wasn't going to be a huge help with one arm anyways. We are keeping our fingers crossed to have power by the time I get back. Once we've got power we'll get the plane back and be back in action.

Alright, time to start driving again...

I just saw a live helicopter broadcast on the tv from Lake Wales airport. They showed the damage to the hangar again and it didn't really look that different than it did after Charley. There's still a big hole in the middle. They also showed stuff laying up and down the runway. When they did a close-up, the reporter said it was the staging area for power poles that the electric company will be using. It doesn't look like anything will be flying there anytime soon. [:/]

Andrea,
Glad to hear the house didn't get flooded. It was great talking to you.

Now, I'm going to use all my good powers to see what I can do about Ivan>:(

It looks like you might be doing some good. Ivan might head out into the Gulf. Keep using those powers to make it true!

I just talked to Bytch a few minutes ago. She is back at the Drop Shop. It is intact with no visible damage. Her house is also still standing although neither place has power. She seemed to be in good spirits and had even managed to have a cold beer only because she brought it with her. (Smart woman.)

I'm glad things were not any worse for you guys.

Mouth - Glad you made it safe from Raeford back home. Wish I had met Bytch while she was here - we just kept missing each other. Guess she'll have to come back to Raeford!

We are presently getting the remnants of the storm. Already 1.7 inches of rain (Yea, a windmeter on the roof was not enough, I had to have a rain guage added. Some would call me a weather geek, most just call me a skydiver.), tornado watches, the worst yet ahead. I won't be worried about rushing to the DZ school in the morning!

LOL, I'll call you a skydiving weather geek that knows how to make folks feel welcome. Good enough? We've had close to 8 inches already and more in the forecast. At least the wind has died down and the crews are busy getting power back on. Thankfully the power company guy lives in my neighborhood. :)
BTW, I gave Tony some cash for the visors...tried to give him more but he literally threw it at me.

Can't wait to see you all again.
