Richmond Boogie revisited

Recommended Posts

Over just six days:
* I celebrated my 200th jump
* I jumped from a helicopter, two different Otters and the incredible Mike Mullins King Air
* I made jumps with some incredible skydivers
* I partied like a rock star
* I had two pilot chutes in tow (the first one I cut away; the next I punched and cursed and fought until it gave me a canopy). We think I might have a problem with my equipment.
* Survived my first cutaway!!!
* Made new friends and caught up with some old ones
* And I didn't manage to sell my old reserve, but everyone said they liked my signs for it.

How was the Boogie for you?

DAMN! I didn't know we could jump the chopper. I thought it was just for sightseers. :( :( :(

A pleasure meeting you and congrats on your extra value skydives.

That was you? Those signs were everywhere... :)
Did I meet you? I was the jackass on the mike Saturday night at midnight trying to do Rodriguez initiations with no bumpy brothers around and applying tatoos both nights. I also jumped with Kramer and a friend of his on a hybrid as the hanger. I thought the jump had gone OK until I learned I racked my friend.
Kramer flies pretty good on his belly with his legs crossed. :)
Edited to add: I think I met you at the bonfire Sunday night. Were you wearing dangly earings with a blue stone and a clear stone? You said you rode Mullins plane like 6 times that day?

Hmmm ... I don't remember anyone on the mike trying to do initiations (I'm already a bumpy brother -- #1090).

But I was the loud, drunk jackass in the "I did Justin three times" T-shirt who was trying to tie everyone together with caution tape at the bonfire. It was my way of bringing everyone together. :)

We did meet during the day! :)
My names Justin, you haven't done me...
I'm Justin, wanna do it a fourth time?
Justin's a loser, I can do ya 5 times in a night...
and on and on... :)

Your boogie? Ahem.

But yes, the Boogie did rock. And you're right -- it'll rock even harder next year.

In the next year I'm going to perfect my freeflying skills so that Rook will be all, "Your science is tight, yo. You should join Alchemy." And I'll be like, "No thanks. But maybe you can join my team sometime when you're good enough." ;)

Bolas -- I remember you now! Nothing like bad pick-up lines to jog the memory.

Note: you cannot do initiations without Brothers, Bumpy Brothers, and Tequilla.

We had a few lined up but they got "kidnapped", had to work etc. Usually there are a few out there that yhou don't know about. The worst part is I was left hanging on the mike trying to pass time while we tried to round a few up. Even sung the Jeopardy theme while people were looking. :$ Thank god I got the band to play another couple of songs.
We had brothers, Tequila, limes, and salt. Coulda done some "old school" initiations but decided against it.
Besides it's easier to be infamous than famous, and you're still recognized. :)
Madama - I take it you weren't out at the bonfire Saturday night?

I don't even remember Saturday night. I was probably wandering around aimlessly.

Wait -- that was the night of my cutaway, so I was drinking champagne straight out of the bottle, then filling it back up with beer ... several times. Yeah, I don't remember much about that night at all. And I wasn't by the campfire much -- I was running around having adventures at many different tents.

My friend Carly and I just followed the lights and glowsticks around.

Have you been to many Richmond Boogies, Bolas?

Well Sunshine was supposed to do it.. but she did not come out for that one.. and then she also had a chance LAST NEW YEARS..at Eloy.
Then I went to the Mardi Gras Boogie.. and certain people could not find Tequila... like WTF....is it rallllly all THAT hard???

I think the Rodriguez Bros should be ashamed.. failing in thier initiation duties.>:(

Hey Maggie,
I so wish I could have been there!!! Dammit, I can't believe I missed two years in a row. Hey, CONGRATS on 200 and surviving a Dash-M reserve ride. Don't wait for it to sell before buying a PD, please! Ask Jason or myself, get a PD.
My Dash-M is still for sale... but it's not in my container, a new PD is.

Anyway, glad to hear you're taking good care of Richmond for me! Keep Kelly out of trouble, he still has to graduate high school!

Take care girl, much love from the west coast.

ps - come to PERRIS - it's skydiving paradise!

Hee. My reserve ride was actually on my new PD143, which I just bought about three weeks ago. Now I'm totally in love with this reserve.

Even though the opening was at terminal, I didn't get beaten up very much. It flew well, it landed perfectly and softly, and it's the most beautiful canopy I've ever seen.

Though I'm sure the Dash-M would have been OK, I'm 100 percent thankful the PD was in my container when this happened. And I'm thankful for you and Jason, because you guys are the reason I have a PD right now ... and the reason my Dash-M is still for sale.

We'll come back to Perris soon -- we loved it there! However, I think our next stop will be Skydive Spaceland. We met so many cool people from that DZ. (Actually, I'm just about to have lunch with Yoshi, who happens to be passing through Cincinnati.)

Come to the Boogie next year. We missed you!

I'm sure the Dash-M is fine. However, I heard a couple stories about Dash-Ms collapsing or blowing up, and it was enough to make me doubt my reserve. I was spooked -- and in an emergency situation, I want to be 100 percent confident in what is going to be above my head. I figured I would have enough to worry about without wondering how my reserve would land. So I bought a PD.

I'm glad too. Because not only did the PD-R function well, I never once doubted it while I was flying it.

Back to Boogie discussion -- who else was staying in Crack Alley? I was wandering around there and heard Sporto's "WHAT?" and "Yeah-uh!" all night!!
