Douva 0 #1 September 14, 2004 I want to start a list of "rules of thumb" for renting a GOOD movie, so everybody contribute your personal rules. Here are a few of mine: 1. Nothing featuring Clint Howard that wasn't produced or directed by his brother Ron. 2. Nothing featuring Dominique Swain after 1997. 3. Nothing featuring Casper Van Dien....Period. 4. Nothing featuring Eric Roberts....Period. 5. Nothing with the words "Blair Witch Project" on the box cover. 6. Nothing about a killer shark that doesn't star Roy Scheider. 7. Nothing from the horror section with the word "rape" in the description. 8. No new releases starring actors you could have sworn were dead. 9. No new releases starring actors that should be dead. 10. Nothing starring Pamela Anderson that doesn't show her blowing Tommy Lee. I'll think of more later, but those seemed like a good place to start.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

MikeJD 0 #5 September 14, 2004 No movies whose cases feature single-word quotes from reviews - it's a sure sign they've been taken out of context: 'A complete lack of compelling performances ... I've had a more exciting time watching paint dry... makes The Sound of Music look like the ultimate action thriller...'
happythoughts 0 #6 September 14, 2004 It must have one or more of the following: 1. humor 2. gratuitious female nudity 3. senseless violence My roommate and I coined a term, the GBS. It is the Gratuitous Breast Shot. It is a scene involving a naked woman in the first 10 minutes of a film. The nudity does not contribute to the plot, it is just there to rivet attention. Also, guys will watch the rest of the movie in vain hopes of seeing them again.
