katiebear21 0 #8 September 17, 2004 I had never watched survivor before but decided to watch it last night. It was really good. I think the girls vs. guys thing is going to be cool. I'm glad I caught the first episode! Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here
skymama 37 #9 September 17, 2004 QuoteI'm glad I caught the first episode! Oh, you're going to be hooked now! My kids and I have watched all of the seasons together. It's fun watching different personalities emerge and see how they react to different situations. Sometimes you just shake your head at people and wonder how they manage to get along with people in the real world! Although I was rooting for the women getting the flint last night, I felt so bad for Chris who couldn't get over the balance beam. He knew he lost it for the whole team! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
crutch 0 #10 September 17, 2004 What kills me is Chris screws it up for the whole team and then they blindside Brook at tribal council because he is too strong a player!blue skies, art
sunshine 2 #11 September 17, 2004 I would've voted Brook off too. I guy named Brook is just strange... ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
skymama 37 #12 September 17, 2004 QuoteI guy named Brook is just strange... I joked to my kids that Brook was talking about the brook that was unsafe to drink. They told me it was a lame joke. sunshine 2 #13 September 17, 2004 I was a little disappointed with the beginning. The previews hyped up "you won't beleive what happens in the first 10 minutes" and i didn't think it was that spectacular. Oh well, i'll still be watching it every thursday. I did get a chuckle out of the chicks tribe being named Yasur, almost sounds like "yes sir" to me. Maybe i'm lame too. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! Remster 30 #14 September 17, 2004 Was it the 1st time in the US for the men vs. women thing? I clearly remember seeing that before, but they made it sound like if it was the 1st time. It may have been the UK version.Remster
skymama 37 #15 September 17, 2004 QuoteThe previews hyped up "you won't beleive what happens in the first 10 minutes" and i didn't think it was that spectacular. My son said the same thing! I guess it was the supposed to be the ceremony with the pig's blood and everything. I thought it was more fun one of the other seasons when they made them jump in the ocean with only their dress clothes on! Seeing a guy jump in the ocean and ruin his precious Armani suit, now that's entertainment! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
PLFXpert 0 #16 September 17, 2004 Holy cow! I watched last night and for the first time in Survivor history, I DO NOT think I could have been on this one...I mean, the women put second to the men, and then the whole pig display and the thought of them eating me if I offended them? I respect different cultures and so can perfectly understand the pig ritual, the women second, even the cannibalism. It would be a nice place to VISIT for a couple days....NOT stay for 32 days with the chief running the show. Speaking of Vanuatu, if anyone watching the National Geographic Channel, there is a show I love called "Taboo" and the Vanuatu tribes were featured on an episode (I saw this before Survivor announced the new season was in Vanuatu) doing their "land diving". The ironic part was that according to the show, only one (or two) people have died from it in their entire history, yet how many people have died in freak accidents bungee-jumping and that should be way safer. I know more people probably bungee jump, which would make a greater chance of the # of people who die in a freak accident, but there's a lot of those tribes people and they do that every year for two months, so I just though that was an interesting fact.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. tigra 0 #17 September 17, 2004 They did the men vs. women thing a couple of years ago too. Eventually the "tribes" merged anyway. I didn't watch much of that season, but I remember the women getting pretty catty over a granola bar wrapper or something!
tigra 0 #18 September 17, 2004 Well, that's part of the game. They can get rid of the fat slob who can't even crawl across a balance beam anytime! He's no real threat to anyone!
Remster 30 #19 September 17, 2004 Quotethe thought of them eating me if I offended them? euuuhhh... I think there has been no cases of canibalism in these parts for quite a while. Its probably more commun with some freaks in the West! Remster

skymama 37 #21 September 17, 2004 QuoteWhen was the last time that the most pysically fit/strong leader won???? Most of the time that doesn't happen because the weaker people see him as a threat and form an alliance and vote him off.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
OnYourBack 0 #22 September 17, 2004 Yep they had women v. men in the amazon. They had the same results as well, much to the mens shock, the women competed extremely well against them.
OnYourBack 0 #23 September 17, 2004 I can't remember where they were but the last strong leader that made it all the way was Brian the used car salesman. Other than that its usually the one who can stay quiet while the loud personalities get themselves kicked off.
skymama 37 #24 September 17, 2004 Well, there was Ethan also. He's my all time favorite winner. Colby would have won, but it gave it to Trish. The All-Stars were smart and they voted him out pretty early the second time around because he's so strong and well liked. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
PLFXpert 0 #25 September 17, 2004 QuoteI think there has been no cases of canibalism in these parts for quite a while. Its probably more commun with some freaks in the West! The last "recorded" of the tribe in Vanuatu practicing it was 1980!!! That's not long ago!!! And that's just what's been recorded. I'm willing to be there are still tribe's members alive that took part 24 years ago. Yuck! But, it's just part of their culture and one must accept that (not necessarily understand, but accept nonetheless).Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
