mcordell 2 #1 November 24, 2009 I'm slightly confused by an ad in the classified section. It lists a Raven II reserve with a square footage of 160 sq ft. The type of canopy is listed as a Raven Dash-M. Now I know the Raven II is a larger canopy, as my raven I is 181 sq ft. I cannot find a Dash-M that was made in a 160, sooooo, what the hell are they referring to? I noticed the user name has no posts at all in the forums. Is this a real canopy that I just can't find information on? Did they make a 160 Sq Ft raven? Also, what year did they start making the Dash-M because the manufacture date I think was in the 80s and I thought they were newer than that.www.facebook.com/FlintHillsRigging
likestojump 3 #2 November 24, 2009 the seller is probably just confused., ravenII is 218. his is probably a 150, Precision never made a 160, easiest thing to do - ask them for a picture of the canopy tail label.
mcordell 2 #3 November 24, 2009 I didn't think they had. The first thought was that this was a scam of some sort since the username has never been used to post but the listing didn't have the telltale piss poor grammar that readily indicates it is a scam. Thanks.www.facebook.com/FlintHillsRigging
gearless_chris 1 #4 November 24, 2009 I think the Dash M came out around 2003, I almost got one. I got lucky and found a deal on a Raven 1 instead. I have a R-Max 168, maybe that's what they meant. English is a second language for some people on here, maybe they got it translated wrong."If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

diablopilot 2 #6 November 24, 2009 Raven I -181 sq ft Raven II-218 sq ft Raven III-249 sq ft Raven IV-288 (?) sq ft. From memory....---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
gearless_chris 1 #7 November 24, 2009 That's just all wrong. People don't usually color their reserves like a main. It was common back in the day to use same canopies for main and reserve (Raven 1 main, and Raven 1 reserve), then use the reserve as a main once the original main had too many jumps on it. Maybe that's why it's colored like that, it was going to be used as a main eventually. I've seen on here where you have to pick canopies/containers/etc. from drop down lists, that could be why the stuff at the bottom is wrong. No excuse for the top info as far as I can see."If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole. gweeks 1 #8 November 24, 2009 Ask for a picture of the label. If it's not faded it should tell you all you need to know. Be careful. A friend of mine just got scammed trying to buy a Raven.
likestojump 3 #9 November 24, 2009 by the DOM alone (1986) I can tell you it's an older Raven. The colors are also of the Raven vintage.
mcordell 2 #10 November 24, 2009 I'm just going to avoid it all together I think. I found a raven from someone reputable and I'm going to try to get that one. Thanks for the help.www.facebook.com/FlintHillsRigging
skybytch 273 #11 November 24, 2009 QuoteI think the Dash M came out around 2003, Nope. 1998-ish. Service Bulletin was in 2000. Easy way to tell if a Raven is a DashM or not - look at the s/n. All DashM's are 8 digits and start with a 5.

From memory.... ............................................................................................... Ys. The Raven series debuted in 1983 or 1984. They only made a few Raven A, most of which were retrofitted with bikini sliders to convert them to Raven B. Raven C - with high aspect ratio sliders - were rare. Raven D was a major redesign. Raven Dash M debuted circa 1997 and Raven MZ (with zero porosity top skin) came out the same year. The problem with Raven Dash M suspension line attachment tapes reared its ugly head in 2000 or 2001. R-Max is an entirely new design.
