SuperKat 0 #1 September 21, 2004 This morning I inserted a blank tape in this drive. I walked away for a few seconds and came back and the tape ejected itself. I was inserting 10 other tapes at that time and I thought I forgot to push the tape in. Well, I pushed it back in and then all 3 LED lights were flashing for the past 3 hours. I tried ejecting the tape. I tried shutting it down and then powering it back up again, nothing. I even tried holding down the eject button for a few seconds. My last resort will have to be opening up that sucker and taking the tape out myself. Let me know if you might have any other alternatives. Thanks. Bolas 5 #2 September 21, 2004 Is this a DLT Tape Library? If not is this an internal or external drive?Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

SuperKat 0 #4 September 21, 2004 External SuperDLT not DLT. DLTs are 40gb uncompressed and 80gb compressed. SDLTs are 220gb uncompressed and 320gb compressed. They're similar dimensions wise. SuperKat 0 #5 September 21, 2004 QuoteYou already answered. "opening up that sucker and taking the tape out myself. "Easier said than done my friend. I finally got it out. It wasn't easy. I had to open up the case and then opening up the casing of the drive itself. I had to remove some springs and some more screws and a solenoid. The bastard still didn't come out. Then, I got lucky. I powered up the drive with the casing off and drive exposed and then I pushed it out. I probably voided the warranty but fuck it. Tape is out and drive is reassembled. I'm RMA'ing this fucker. I'm just telling those incompetent non-english speaking offshore Helpdesk bastards at HP that the 3 LED lights are still flashing and it won't allow me to insert tapes. Let those mofos deal with it! wildblue 7 #6 September 21, 2004 QuoteI even tried holding down the eject button for a few seconds. There's some series you have to do... I think. Happened to me once, I just held the eject button for like 30 seconds and it finally spit it out. Another one I had to hold it for some amount of time until the lights flashed different, then push the button again. I guess taking it apart works too... it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
