I am tense!!!

Why can't I just relax? Has anyone else had this problem?

When I fly in the wind tunnel, I have karate chop hands because they don't relax. When I go headdown, everyone always remarks how stiff my upper body is, and I need to relax. Last night at dance, my teacher rubbed my shoulders and told me I need to relax.

How does one do this? Why am I so tense?

And, Elvisio, while beer helps me relax, I should not do that before skydiving or dancing!!! (Even if it does improve my dancing...I swear!)

I'm thinking it's just a case of being stressed. Even on the weekends when you think you're relaxed, your body is still a bit stressed from your busy weekday activities. Maybe you should start getting a nice massage once a week or something.

Hmmm....Taneva is right on the dz.... I got a brief 10 min massage while at the Convention, and I felt so incredible afterwards. You might be on to something there.

YES! I am feeling exactly the same...

And trying to find out where a good acupuncture clinic is, here in SoCal... was doing that for a while in TX and it was great for relaxation. Massage too, but they're both a matter of finding the right practitioner.

Wow!!! This sounds alot like me... except for the belly dancing :)
You work in a job where you have to think, same with me. When something comes up your first response is to think it through, perhaps even overanalyzing. I had to look it up to figure out what your job was. :)
Did you have a hard time as a student? I had one coach tell me we were gonna toke up before my next jump. ;) (We didn't, just to reassure people we weren't jumping impaired)

What I do is whenever I do something I'm doing for fun is not worry and think about "my hand should be here, my leg should be there." I just try to enjoy it and only react. Smiling really helps too.

If you are getting tense just say to yourself "Oh, screw it." and just go limp. You'll still be in the same position but you'll be relaxed.
Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting
If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
