kris12 0 #31 September 22, 2004 I had my tongue pierced for six years. Loved it! In addition to liking the shorter barbells better, I also preferred the larger gauges. I played with it so much that once the whole barbell (balss still attached popped through my tongue (no it didn't hurt). I finally ended up with a 4 gauge barbell and was quite happy with it. (I found that when I could lay the barbell horizontal in all directions and put the bottom ball on the roof of my mouth, I could easily and painlessly put the next larger gauge in.) One thing that you will want to watch out for is wear to your gums (behind your bottom front teeth). The bottom ball may rub against it. I took my tongue piercing out just about a year ago, because my dentist noticed my gums were wearing away (slightly, but I didn't want to make it any worse). I always made a point to ask about gum wear at my appointments.
