AggieDave 6 #5 September 22, 2004 Plastic Jesus. Badass song! Quote C (C7) Well, I don't care if it rains or freezes, F Long as I have my plastic Jesus C D7 Riding on the dashboard of my car C Through all trials and tribulations, F We will travel every nation, C G7 C With my plastic Jesus I'll go far. F C cho: Plastic Jesus, plastic Jesus C (D7) G7 Riding on the dashboard of my car C (C7) Through all trials and tribulations, F (F#dim7) We will travel every nation, C G7 C With my plastic Jesus I'll go far. I don't care if it rains or freezes 's long as I've got my Plastic Jesus Glued to the dashboard of my car, You can buy Him phosphorescent Glows in the dark, He's Pink and Pleasant, Take Him with you when you're travelling far. I don't care if it's dark or scary, Long as I have magnetic Mary, Ridin' on the dashboard of my car, I feel I'm protected amply, I've got the whole damn Holy Family, Riding on the dashboard of my car. You can buy a Sweet Madonna Dressed in rhinestones sitting on a Pedestal of abalone shell, Goin' ninety, I'm not wary 'Cause I've got my Virgin Mary, Guaranteeing I won't go to Hell. I don't care if it bumps or jostles Long as I got the Twelve Apostles Bolted to the dashboard of my car Don't I have a pious mess Such a crowd of holiness Strung across the dashboard of my car When pedestrians try to cross I let them know whose boss I never blow my horn or give them warning I ride all over town, trying to run them down And it's seldom that they live to see the morning Plastic Jesus, Plastic Jesus Riding on the dashboard of my car His halo fits just right and I use it as a sight And they'll scatter or they'll splatter near and far God made Christ a Holy Jew God made Him a Christian too Paradoxes populate my car Joseph beams with a feigned elan From the shaggy dash of my furlined van Famous cuckold in the master plan; Naughty Mary, smug and smiling, Jesus dainty and beguiling Knee-deep in the piling of my van; His message clear by night or day My phosphorescent plastic Gay Simpering from the dashboard of my van. If I weave around at night And the police think I'm tight, They'll never find my bottle, though they ask; plastic Jesus shelters me, For His head comes off, you see-- He's hollow, and I use Him for a flask. Plastic Jesus, plastic Jesus Riding on the dashboard of my car: Ride with me and have a dram, Of the blood of the Lamb, Plastic Jesus is a holy bar. AggieDave 6 #10 September 22, 2004 Holy crap Veggie Tales are great, I love the one where they did David and Goliath. The sheep kept falling over, funniest freak'n thing I've seen in a long time. peacefuljeffrey 0 #12 September 22, 2004 The Indigo Girls -- try "Prince of Darkness," "Secure Yourself," "Love's Recovery." All awesome, beautiful acoustic songs! Then there's Neil Young's "Old Man," and "Don't Let It Bring You Down." Four Non-Blondes had that song "What's Up?" that's cool. It has electric parts, but could probably be done nicely on acoustic. Dan Fogelberg, "The Leader of the Band" is a gorgeous song, very sentimental. So is "Longer." Can you do Led Zeppelin's "Bron Yr Aur"? It's awesome! I have to say, I envy you being able to play guitar. I have a guitar, but have not been able to apply myself much to learning to play it. I know some chords, but cannot yet reliably finger them, my strumming is for shit... shall I go on? Maybe some day... Blue skies, -Jeffrey --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... brits17 0 #13 September 22, 2004 Dave, I love the front porch song!! Maybe I'll have to bring the guitar to AOT and jam that one, but I sure can't sing it. Robert Keen Robert Keen! You'll just have to help me out on the lyrics then. Dude yeah veggie tales rock. The asparagus is like, me. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com
windcatcher 0 #14 September 22, 2004 you can play the acoustic guitar, good girl! I;ve been thinking about picking it up myself, the problem is I dont like to practice. Anyways, anything by Van Morrison or Bob Dylan is good, what about "Girl from the North Country" by Dylan? It's a great song...and Jack Johnson has some nice guitar songs...I think Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...
AggieDave 6 #15 September 22, 2004 There's a couple of us that'll have guitars out Saturday evening at AOT, we're gonna play "The Rigger's Wife" in tribute to John Chote (he wrote it). I'm sure more songs could possibly be had.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
brits17 0 #16 September 22, 2004 Thanks Kramer, Jeff and Sarah! I have plenty to keep me occupied for the evening now _______________________ aerialkinetics.com
brits17 0 #17 September 22, 2004 Yeah, I remember every year, someone busts out the guitar. I played a little a couple years back. Mini-session Anyway, I've heard that tune (rigger's wife)! Awesome, I didn't know John wrote that. It will be an exceptional memorial boogie, quite an emotional one too I have a feeling. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com
AggieDave 6 #18 September 22, 2004 Yeah, Gary (beachbum) and I are going to play it, which is cool since Gary and John were close friends. So anyways, I'll have my acoustic out on Saturday, you bring yours, Gary is bringing his (he's really good, btw) and I can even bring some tabs just in case.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Nightingale 0 #23 September 22, 2004 I'm fond of the Indigo Girl's "Power of Two", "Galileo" and "Closer to Fine". "Gone Again" is a really catchy tune, too.
