wmw999 2,603 #3 September 22, 2004 Try looking around at Car Talk for, at the very least, compiled anecdotal information, including reliability and comments from people just saying how much they liked various cars. quade 4 #4 September 22, 2004 Think about a used Saturn from a Saturn dealer (so you know it has been inspected well). In my opinion, these are good, no non-sense, practical cars with good gas milage. They hold up well. I have a 1995 Saturn with 140,000 miles on it, gets (last time I honestly checked) 34 mpg and still runs like a champ. I haven't made a car payment in the last 7 years. That freekin' rules.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Kramer 0 #5 September 22, 2004 IMO, Chevy's are pieces of shit, but what do I know? If you're sold on a cheap Chevy, a mid-late 90s S-10 could be cool. (And yeah...check out autotrader.com or ebay fo sho). Sorry to hear about your car getting stolen. The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!! Misslmperfect 0 #6 September 22, 2004 if you want a late model used chevy, thats 5 or under, i think you're probably looking at a cavalier, or maybe a prizm.. my cousin just turned 16 and bought a 4 year old focus for 4800. its in GREAT shape, too! she found some lateish model chevy malibus on ebay though, for about 6000. good luck! i need a car too if you venture away from chevy saturn, kia, and hyundai have good cars that dont cost much!Oh Canada, merci pour la livraison! jtval 0 #9 September 23, 2004 well I would like something that looks nice but that really the last oin the list. MPG over 30 reliability. ( i keep good care of my cars but i dont want to HAVE TO keep good care of it, if that makes sense) semi spacious so I can fit atleast a honda civic capacity! LOL ( i dealt with that small POS for 2 years.) NO ROAD NOISE-- MY civic didnt go faster. it GOT LOUDER something that I wont have to pay two lungs and a kidney for if I need work done to it. (GM has a low maintanance rate last I knew) things along those lines. My photos My Videos

RevJim 0 #12 September 23, 2004 Right at 5 grand, seriously consider a Dodge Stratus of 99 - 00 vintage. I've got a 95 with over 160,000 on the 4 cylinder 2.0 and 5 speed. Still gets very close to 40 mpg highway, 30+ city, and I still get comments on how nice it is for being 10 years old. I drive it to Rantoul every year, and on occasion to SE Missouri and Greene County, Indiana. Look for a low mileage one though, as repairs usually start at about 100k miles, and include alot of brake work. It's your life, live it!
