psychoswooper 2 #2 September 22, 2004 IMO.... Live entertainment/ DJs and or bands. Kegs of beer, food availabale on DZ, specialty aircraft or aircraft not normally available on that DZ. Manufacturer's reps on hand......Organisers, free coaching...Specialty jumps (like high-altitude)....
quade 4 #3 September 22, 2004 I think of a "boogie" as something you and other people travel to for a specific occasion. The specific occassion might be simply to be there.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Girlfalldown 0 #6 September 22, 2004 Boogies give me a reason to travel around the country visiting new and different dropzones and meeting wonderful new skydivers. It's a great way to bring people that never would have met before together to share in something we all love so dearly. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.) chaoskitty 0 #7 September 22, 2004 Most of the boogies I go to arent *that* much different than any other weekend at a big dz. Your dublin boogie being an exception. So for me, its the people.. getting to jump with new and old friends... and seeing people I dont get to see every weekend.
cocheese 0 #8 September 22, 2004 Boobies !No ?Ok. What girlfalldown said.Common ground to fly above with uncommon people.

Thanatos340 1 #10 September 22, 2004 Quoteyour oppinion what makes it a Boogie as opposed to just another weekend skydiving? Usually the Registration Fee!! Seriously, if alot of Skydivers are coming from other DZ`s for the weekend, It makes it a Boogie in my eyes.
Girlfalldown 0 #11 September 22, 2004 QuoteDon't forget Jello shots.... Don't forget the dancing either. It's not a real boogie unless everyone get's down! -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)

jtval 0 #13 September 22, 2004 usually dust or foriegn particles that get cuaght in you nasal cavity by the little hairs ( cilia) then the mucus membranes attack the object so they dont get into your lungs. eventually they dry out and hundreds of skydivers celebrate your good health by jumping into the air and reenacting it. I.E. a skydiver is a foreign object and the parachute is the cilia. every hundred jumps the pie represents mucus and after its all dried out we drink LOTS of alcohol to wash away your the "bad health" and then we do it all over again!.My photos My Videos

vdschoor 0 #19 September 22, 2004 QuoteHey look. This one got all the way to 10 post before it got off topic. I agree, to get it back on topic: What makes it a boogie, is when people get together for some serious skydiving, with nightly parties and possibly some different airplanes from what the dz normally has.. Back on topic
mcneill79 0 #20 September 22, 2004 That was my fault... am I in trouble now? To me a boogie is a wonderful time to meet new friends who you would not normally meet. It is a time to make skydives you would not normally get to make. And of course it is a time for boobies
RastaRicanAir 0 #21 September 22, 2004 I have had relatively little experience in the area, but to my virgin eyes it seems to happen when you have enough food, drink, toilets and entertainment of some sort to to make it feasible to stay on the dropzone for the entire weekend, people coming from other places to make it different from jumping with your same old loser friends, and an assortment of aircraft to make it more of an event. ....But mainly it's being surrounded by gratuitous nudity and people shamelessly gettin' wrecked. It's a boogie if enough people travel to it. Advertising, aircraft, load organizing, equipment demos, and beer may be reasons people actually do this; or just business as usual.
