DJL 235 #26 September 27, 2004 No, no, no....you have that all wrong. It's OK for the chickens to be in captivity because they're considered to be pets. But you can only eat eggs that they lay out in the woods. So, you have to let them out into the woods every once in a while. Hence the term free ranging eggs. Also, let the pig take about 10 steps out of the pen and !BLAMMO! you have free ranging bacon. Mmmm, bacon."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
Zep 0 #27 September 27, 2004 Ok I've got this one worked out, It's all the fault of the highway. If thier were no highways thier would be no free range chickens, as they would have no highways to cross Hence no problems I'd rather have a bottle in front of me Than a frontal labotomy Gone fishing
DJL 235 #28 September 27, 2004 QuoteI don not want to get into an argument. I wasn't offering anything to argue about. That was a humor piece. Anyway, the world would actually be a richer place without factory farms. A factory farm employs a few low paid people to do basic work with company owned equipment. The revenue goes to people in suits. That same quantity of livestock spread over traditional farms means more people employed at higher pay. The product is higher quality and the price is competetive. For price don't take places like Whole-Foods as an example. There you're paying more for the privelege of shopping in a place that looks like Crate and Barrell."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
Zep 0 #29 September 27, 2004 Nothing to do with this thread I noticed your bit at the bottom "45º rule" I wonder how many DZ's actually teach that rule With numbers comes experience Gone fishing
ZoneRat 0 #30 September 28, 2004 While you're giving your report, have somone on the side kill, bleed, skin, dress, debone and fry-up a chicken in class. Then feed it to the the audience. That interactive enough for ya? Bonus points: The sound, sight and smell of the cooking chicken uses the element of synethesia, a useful tecnique to engage the audience. If you have them pet the chicken or help kill, debone or skin it, then that includes touch as well. When you feed it to them, that includes taste. The shock of watching something die so they can eat should make a pretty convicing argument for why some folk might choose veganism. It should make for a lively group discussion afterwards. Hey. You asked for creative ideas to actively engage the audience...“There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”
