pccoder 0 #1 September 25, 2004 Well, earlier this week I had planned on going to Skydive Space Center and get some jumps in today. Instead, I sit here with my daughter, girlfriend and mother at my house watching CNN and talking shit. by the way, I have watched two trees so far get uprooted in my yard, and that was just during the past two hours. fun fun. The111 1 #3 September 26, 2004 Shit man, I'm in Orlando and it's still calm here. Apparently it's not where you are... which means it's not far off here.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
jumpergirl 0 #4 September 26, 2004 We're in Z-hills and we've gotten some light rain off and on this afternoon and this evening so far. I'm not looking forward to riding out another hurricane in this little trailer. Thank goodness we have the bunker if we need it. Good luck to all of you on the East coast. Our thoughts and prayers are with you yet again!
Dagny 0 #5 September 26, 2004 Fort Lauderdale has been windy and rainy since about 3pm. The wind is loud and the apartment keeps making weird noises and I wish I wasn't weathering the storm alone. It's a good thing that I get unlimited weekend minutes on my cell! I am soooo keeping my fingers crossed that Sebastian (and everyone else) gets through this one okay. My last minute trip to Walgreens just minutes before they closed resulted in hot dogs (I know they're bad, but yum), diet Sunkist (tastes like regular!), soup and Ramen noodles. Yep, gotta stock up on the essentials. Tried to get to blockbuster to rent a movie, but they closed before I got there...and they're usually so hardcore! Tried to get gas, but all the stations had closed by the time I got out today. Makes me wonder, now that everyone is becoming a veteran of stocking up for hurricanes, what are your gotta-have-it-essentials? Stay safe, stay dry.Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic. -Salvador Dali

skycat 0 #7 September 26, 2004 Do blizzard essentials count? I'm from North Dakota so I get funny looks here in Colorado when I stock up on blizzard supplies. Apparently here the snow always melts within days of falling. Long haul no power rations: powdered milk canned stuff soup, vegies, fruit, meat crackers pasta cereal bread peanut butter jerky powdered sports drinks white gas for camp stove If you are good at outdoor cooking on a camp stove my favorite treats are blueberry muffins (well it looks like 1 big one that you have to share). If you have power just add stuff for the fridge, but always have the no power stuff on hand.Fly it like you stole it!
pccoder 0 #8 September 28, 2004 well, lost power at 5am sunday morning. saturday night was LOUD. the front of the house (facing east) was a constant beating from palm debris, mulch, dirt, wind, rain. i had leaks in the foyer by the front door, shingles all over the yard and the lake. roof making really nice rattlling sounds in the end, not really any damage which couldn't be fixed up rather quickly. many others weren't so lucky, so I am fortunate. power finally came back on last night. 2pm in florida heat without power sucks. I hope everyone else made it without too much trouble. I look forward to being able to jump again (some day) if the rains will stop hitting us every other weekend. ChasingBlueSky 0 #9 September 28, 2004 Has anyone heard from the dzs yet on damage? I saw the town of Lakes Wales last night on the news and it was heavily flooded._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... pccoder 0 #10 September 28, 2004 Skydive Space Center is taking loads up NOW. No damage and they are desperately needing jumpers, so if you have the time come out and help these starving souls who have had no work for about a month. I am calling Skydive Sebastian right now (getting all circuits are busy now messages from phone company). If anyone else knows the status of this DZ, please report.
