AggieDave 6 #1 September 29, 2004 I bought the DVD set yesterday (I had to, I'm a Star Wars fan). He's changed a LOT, atleast he has changed a lot in Return of The Jedi, the only DVD I've watched so far....The ending is different, there are new scenes, new characters and new music! Man he's really gone a fucked up a classic. Yes I know this has been discussed, but I'm annoyed enough that I wanted to start a new thread (especially since I have proof now, its not all just speculation previous to the DVDs coming out).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Sabre2th 0 #3 September 29, 2004 What a tool I have all the "originals". What would make him do that? Money? Did he not like the original version? Thanks Dave, now I won't waste money on the DVD. Sinkster 0 #5 September 29, 2004 haha, I told you. btw, I have the 'definative' laserdisc versions (the last best existing original theatrical versions of star wars) in DVD format ready to burn to DVDs. (4 gigs each) They include a menu with scene selection and everything. In other words, the play as if you have a laserdisc player, only as a DVD. So the originals will live on forever, digitally. send me a pm if u want to work out how to obtain them if u haven't already

Unfortunately they'll look no better than laser discs when you blow them up to a reasonable size. You don't want less than a 16:9 enhanced DVD when you park yourself 9' from an 87x37" scope image. murrays 0 #8 September 30, 2004 I guess I'm lucky that I only saw the original movie a couple of times, never saw Empire Strikes back and only saw Return of the Jedi once when it was released. I bought the set for my kids to have these classics and have thoroughly enjoyed watching all three movies over the last week or so. I never knew the originals so the changes made don't bother me...I think they are all very good flicks as presented on the DVD.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
BlindBrick 0 #9 September 30, 2004 QuoteDid he not like the original version? No he didn't, Lucas has always said that he was never satisfied with the movies because the technology wasn't capable of conveying his vision and the studio wouldn't let him tell the story they way he wanted to. I really don't get the whining. We may like the orignal version of Star Wars but it was never ours, it was always his to do with as he pleased. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." The hell it was. We're the ones who spent $400M (on the first pass) in tickets and countless on toys (I even had an AT-AT). Gweedo didn't shoot first! I have the in between edition - DVDs were released elsewhere in the world based on the first Special Edition. Are the laserdisc copies anamorphic or just letterbox? Only thing that changed in ROTJ with the release of the DVDs is adding Hayden C. and adding a shot of Naboo at the end. Matt
