f1freak 0 #1 September 30, 2004 I just watched the PD team video.... It's a GREAT vid, but i had to hit the mute button half way into the movie, i just couldnt take the "same techno" music over and over again... The footage is like a VE79, and the soundtrack is like a PD190.... I am SO SICK of the techno "bla bla... thump thump... bla bla" music.... I mean techno is soooooooooo.... It's just old school...HAVE FUN... ...JUST DONT DIE
AggieDave 6 #2 September 30, 2004 I think PD bought about 3 seconds worth of music and had to loop it... I agree, techno music and skydiving is from the '90s FF videos.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
wingnut 0 #3 September 30, 2004 i like some techno with skydiving videos, it just can't get repetitive or hang around for the whole video... some other pump ya up music is also good to use....... softer music is also cool to use for an added effect to some fottage!!! all depends on what ya got to work with when ya edit... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"

happythoughts 0 #5 September 30, 2004 What did one techno fan say to the other when the X wore off? "Hey, this music really sucks!" How can you tell when your techno CD is skipping? You can't.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #6 September 30, 2004 First off, Travis, your new avatar is fantastic! Second, you techno/trance haters can piss off! Would you prefer some Enya on your videos?

Okay, I agree that some techno can get repetitive (but there is some great stuff out there too) but if I had to chose techo over the same ol' old-time-rock-and-roll songs on most skydive videos, I'll take the techo! It's more reflective of the adrenaline pumping through your blood on a jump.

happythoughts 0 #13 September 30, 2004 QuoteNo it's not. Techno is boring. Adrenaline it isn't. Think of the good sides to techno. You don't need to have any music training to run an electronic drum machine. It's as good as one-instrument music gets. It's louder than beating on a hollow log and less tiring. I just think they should add another complementary instrument. Maybe put a chair leg on a cats tail.

I write "lol" a lot, but it's pretty rare that I actually laugh out loud... this was funny! My boyfriend created a skydiving video to some pretty cool funk music, it was definitely a refreshing change to the same old techno music. Angela. kaerock 1 #18 October 1, 2004 I'm of the opinion right now that skydiving footage + punk or funk == good. I'm tired of the same old repetitive beat as well. When I created my video I wanted something up-tempo, unconventional and conveying a generally good vibe. One of my best friends has, uhm, let's say, differing tastes in music and wants to put that high-pitched-barbie-girl-whiney-euro-techno to the video footage. NAY I SAY. In my 10 minute video I have: Janes Addiction Bar-Kays Tones on Tail Beastie Boys I almost threw in some Mos Def and Bad Brains, but I didn't want to over-saturate. How about that for breaking the mold? ;> -R QuoteI just watched the PD team video.... Fast 0 #19 October 1, 2004 I think that too many styles of music are thrown into the techno category. There is also a lot of really crappy techno music out there! Everyone and their brother thinks that they can produce good music with a computer which is soo very much not true. That said, I think that the music used in skydiving videos should be mixed up as much as anything else. Too much of even a good thing normally ends up not being a good thing. It also has a lot to do with the mood you want to set and the footage you have. I can think of a lot of good tracks that would make for good skydiving background music but I don't have the video that would fit.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. jumpergirl 0 #20 October 1, 2004 F1freak's video is really cool. He put Metallica and Evanesance and I can't remember what else, but it's so much easier to watch than the PD video was!!
kaerock 1 #21 October 1, 2004 I generally don't like pop music, if it gets played 15 times a day or more on a radio station I usually move along. I prefer more obscure stuff, and have very very eclectic tastes. This makes for some great sound-tracks as it's often very refreshing and interesting to use something different. I love to use music that makes people ask, "what is that? it sounds great, who is it?" -R QuoteF1freak's video is really cool. vdschoor 0 #23 October 1, 2004 I think we all want the same.. a tune that grabs you, and flows well with the visuals. Some songs are just plain SH$%^T, BUT with the right visuals and cuts at the right spots it can be made into something beautifull. I love all sorts of music, and my collection has it all, from classic (not classic rock.. I mean the violin stuff) all the way to Iron Maiden, with pretty much everything in between. I look at my footage and think, what does this feel like.. what music fits best? Any kind of music works for skydiving videos, in the end we're really making music videos I think, but it's all about combining the right visuals with the right music. Go and see the trailer for the Swedish FreeFlaj festival 2002 boogie video, the music is different from any skydiving video I've ever seen, but it fits so well with the footage that it's a great video together. (not to forget there is some really cool footage in taht video too) Iwan
Shotgun 1 #24 October 1, 2004 QuoteSkydiving videos need more PRIMUS!!! Like this one? QuoteWynona's got herself a Big Brown Beaver and she shows it off to all her friends. One day you know that beaver tried to leave her so she caged him up with cyclone fence. Along came Lou with the old baboon and said "recognize that smell?" "Smells like seven layers, that beaver eats at Taco Bell." Now Rex was a Texan out of New Orleans, and he traveled with the carnival shows. He ran bumper cars, sucked cheap cigars, and he candied up his nose. He caught wind of the Big Brown Beaver so he thought he'd take himself a peek. But the beaver was quick and it grabbed 'em by the kiwis and he ain't pissed for a week (and a half) Wynona took her Big Brown Beaver and stuck 'em up in the air. Said, "I sure do love this Big Brown Beaver, and I wish I did have a pair." Wynona loved her Big Brown Beaver and she stroked him all the time. She pricked her finger one day, and it occurred to her: She might have a porcupine! I think Chronicle III has -by far- the best skydiving video soundtrack ever... And that scene with Wynona's Big Brown Beaver is hilarious. (and of course it has some great skydiving in it too!)
Jskydiver22 0 #25 October 1, 2004 I think techno can be used too much sometimes, but it generally goes with skydiving. Sometimes its good to hear stuff like the music behind Aria's promo vid on performancedesigns.com....by the way does anyone know what song that is or some like it? --I don't even know enough to know that I dont know--
