Conundrum 1 #1 October 4, 2004 .... and didn't think anything of it until they'd been out there since Friday and all day today. They just stand in front of the entrances to the building. They don't say anything to anyone, they just stand there. Little odd. I knew something must be up. Apprently ( i just found out ) on Friday, an ex-employee came into the building with a gun and had intentions of killing the supervisor. Luckily I guess the security here distracted him until police came and took him away. No we have these big guys in suits guarding all doors into the building. And they didn't bother to inform all the employees who work nearby? Nice... Ah, they've probably got "No Guns Allowed" signs up on the doors, so I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. Nice... *** Had the same thing happen 10 years ago at an aerospace plant I was working at just outside of San Diego... I was a 2nd shift supervisor, walking the lot taking status on some parts when the El Cajon SWAT Team "took me down" they were laying in wait for an 'ex'employee that was fired that day for being armed at work...and had made threats. Called MY boss at home to 'thank' him for the heads up!! (next day the guy shot his GF and himself a few miles away) ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

Bolas 5 #9 October 5, 2004 I was working at a brand new maximum security prison as a computer tech. The prison hadn't opened yet so it was used alot for training. The prison "brute force brigade" (I'm not making it up, that was their name The leader yells, "Everybody down!!!" I'm the only one in the room so I figured I'd keep working and they would go on to the next room, considering this one "clear" I'm still talking to the office when the leader yells, "EVERYBODY DOWN ON THE GROUND, NOW!!!" So I lie down on my stomach, with the phone to my ear and continue the conversation. I can see some of the guards smiling but they are staying serious. The guy I'm talking on the phone is oblivious to what is going on, so he asks me to try something on the computer. I say, "I can't I'm on the floor." Mishearing me, he angrily says, "What? Your floored? Why does that floor you?" I explain what's going on and he starts laughing, while I'm explaining it too him the guards start snickering, I think they enjoyed my "this kind of thing happens all the time voice." (which was total BS, but the guy on the phone had never even been to a prison) I get a dirty look from the leader and then realizing his men are about to lose all seriousness yells, "Clear!!! No one in this room." and moves on. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
