wmw999 2,589 #1 October 6, 2004 Last night I went to this lecture. Really interesting, but pretty dense stuff, or at least I felt dense after awhile. I made it until he was talking about the strings being satisfying because they are a considerably more elemental building block of the universe than a multitude of particles. Then he kept talking. Anyway, life just isn't fair. He's smart (PhD from Oxford 3 years after bachelor's from Harvard); entertaining; can think on his feet; he can write for the masses, and he's good looking too. He must have been hell to have in class when he was an adolescent. I'm such a failure (long dramatic sigh) Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
