tandembrent 0 #1 September 10, 2004 not that anyone really cares, but, there is a rumor at skydive tecumseh that i Brent Venable have quit skydiving. nothing could be farther from the truth. what i told a select few last saturday was that i would not jump at tecumseh anymore. that is for personal as well as other real concerns that i have. there are other dz's in michigan that i will frequent until i depart for warmer climates this fall. the duplicity and out right lies swirlling around tecumseh are enough to drive anyone away , and has to some extent. tecumseh was a special place for me that will never be equalled or replaced for me. iwill have excellent times at wherever i land , and that as they say is that !!!!! some recent staements on dz.com indicate that everyone is allways welcome there. but in mine and some other people i have spoken with's opinion, if you don't get on the good side of some of the regulars, the clique's, you probably would do better to keep searching for another dz. this statement by me will no doubt offend some folks there. to them i say they are quite possibly the cause of the problems that i elude to. my thoughts, not everyones by any strech. peace, brent ***~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are! peacefuljeffrey 0 #3 September 29, 2004 Wow... This is why I like being a relative newbie to skydiving. I got to enjoy a period of blissful ignorance of the dark underbelly of the "cliquiness" thing you're talking about, and the ugliness that can go on in skydiving like in anything else. Everywhere I go in skydiving, I just smile and meet people and say hi and be friendly and take things at face value. I have had the fortune to not have met anyone I thought was a real jerk to be avoided. Yes, some shitstorms have happened in near proximity (like SoBe's snafu closing, for one) but like I said, I as a newbie was always just on the outside of stuff like that -- for me, skydiving never lost its appealing veneer. With luck, the fun parts of skydiving will weather the crap you're talking about, and liars and deceitful people will fall by the wayside, in a natural cleansing process. Hopefully. In the meantime, the sky is always your friend, and never far away. If you're down in FL again this winter, get in touch, Brent. I'll jump with ya. -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
christoofar 0 #4 September 29, 2004 You're not alone. Look on the bright side... cliques fall apart, people move on and some people that gave you a hard time in the past probably won't even be in skydiving in a few years--things change. ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! cocheese 0 #5 September 29, 2004 Oh this thread is back. Ok I'll comment. For the record folks, Brent has said "I'm never coming back" several times. In fact, he was there doing tandems just a few days after this thread was started ... and every weekend since.Tecumseh is not a bad place. We have our cluster f@qk moments, but in general, it runs smooth. All you have to do is sign up for a load and you're up in just a few minutes. I would suggest Brent either makes a public apology to the forums ,quit bashing the dz you work for, or find another dz if it's so bad there.Pick a decision and go with it. We didn't quit skydiving either folks. There's a lot of love and smiles at our dz.Most who visit agree.
Nameless 0 #6 September 29, 2004 Jeff is correct. Brent Venable has said "I'm never coming back" many times before. In fact this thread was first started on Friday afternoon. Brent was at the dropzone Friday night. He was making money as a tandem master on Saturday. Here is a suggestion Brent. Do not trash your place of employment on a public forum. Maybe the reason people do not like you at Tecumseh is because of your bad attitude. For some, Skydive Tecumseh is a main source of income which you are trying to destroy. Others have worked for many years to establish a happy place full of great people and skydivers. People who visit Skydive Tecumseh are welcomed with open arms. It is a very inclusive environment. However, bad attitudes and negativity are not appreciated by any.
christoofar 0 #7 September 29, 2004 Hmm I wonder who Nameless is, who only has one post and no DZ listed? ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Fo shizzle.
christoofar 0 #8 September 29, 2004 All seriousness aside, DZ.COM isn't really the place to be trashing a DZ (unless it's Skydive Las Vegas ). But I think the original posting wasn't touching much on the DZ itself, mostly the people (regulars) who were there; which is more of a personal nature and didn't have anything to do with how the DZ is owned or operated. ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! weegegirl 2 #11 September 29, 2004 Hi Chris, This thread is lame. Tecumseh rocks!!! Seriously.. i'm biased, but I've still been to 12 or 13 dzs and tecumseh is my freefly heaven. The people are all so cool. The airplane is so fast and almost always flying. The talent is great... especially the freefly talent this year! The parties are unbeatable. The facilities are pretty stinkin good. So, what's wrong?? Come see for yourself!! We'd love to have you. I know a ton of dz.commers who have visited this year, and I think most of them (if not all of them) will tell you they had a great time. There are cliques to some degree, but I've never seen such an inclusive environment. Someone said the other week that going to Tecumseh is like going to a concert. You meet everyone, party with everyone, and never get enough sleep. Brent, I never heard that rumor. But I do find it odd that you would trash the dz and then go work there the next day. Hope things have gotten better for you since you posted that. To everyone... come play at Tecumseh! Our End of the Year party is coming up Halloween weekend. Costume party! It's gonna be sweeeeeeeeet!!!! Oh, and a film festival too! Cya'll Soon! Liz
christoofar 0 #12 September 29, 2004 QuoteSo, what's wrong?? Come see for yourself!! We'd love to have you. I'm sure it's lovely, but I just can't handle your state in the wintertime! In fact most of the people near you who snowbird start to flee down here to Spaceland, San Marcos, SDTexas and Temple right about now. Hahahahaah ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Fo shizzle.
chaoskitty 0 #13 September 29, 2004 I've always heard that Tecumseh rocks. A good friend of mine, Mike L., used to work there and talks about how cool it is. Sounds like Brent is hearing people say he doesnt want to work there anymore, when he actually does, and to me that would be a little offensive. If he has officially quit, thats one thing. But it sounds more like he got irritated a few times and said someting about it, then let it slide. I've seen enough dz drama that I didnt really take his post as "trashing". He pointed out that there are cliques.. well thats true everywhere. Y'all just relax and go skydive... I bet thats what youre doing anyway..

weegegirl 2 #15 September 29, 2004 Jumping? I wish. But it's a bit too windy out today. Leaves are starting to fall and the cold air is moving in. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Time to start thinking about my winter getaways.

tandembrent 0 #17 October 9, 2004 i appologize for the re-appearance of this thread , again, but here it is. jeff i don't feel like i owe anyone an appology for anything. as for "continuing to come out and jump" if you look at the manifest record it shows that the only jumps i've made there since june have been tandems. why only tandems? becuase junior, ron, rex, and hummit all asked me to help with the tandem load. there seems to be a sudden lack of instructors . there are always those that lend a hand and those that stand around and bitch. i don't care for this thread to continue, but if it must so be it. almost anyone should feel free to pm me to continue away from the prying public eye. peace, brent~~~~Green grass and high clouds forever~~~~ no matter where you go, there you are!
