DeNReN 0 #1 October 10, 2004 So its Thanksgiving weekend up here in Canada......I,m sitting on the couch flipping back and forth between the Nascar race and the rebrodcast of the Japan Grand Prix(stayed up late and watched it live last night)....weather is shit as usuall so no jumping.... Hear someone opening my screen door(main door was open) think its one of our friends dropping by....next thing I know the G/F is running to the front door yelling at someone......I leap up and run to the door to see a kid(teenager) in a dark blue hooded sweat shirt bolting out of my driveway....I take up pursuit as the G/F yells at me that he's stolen something from the counter....(my wallet with several hundred $$,cell phone,a few packs of smokes and digital camera were all sitting there) As I chase him through backyards over fences etc etc....yelling that I'm gona kill him,I think that he has my wallet or camera......I gain on him as we weave through the maze of backyards....but my lungs are starting to scream at me...(a 39 year old that has smoked for over 20 years is at a disadvantage chasing a teenager)....I see my chance to cut him off and take it.....only to come across a large fenced in yard.....damn!!!...lost major time....poof he's gone ....I continue to search asking anyone I see about the sweatshirt wearing kid...Talked to another kid delivering flyer packs....he has seen him and a friend of his....gives me a decription of his friend but sais he wasnt involved...and dosent know the kid that stole my shit...I thank him and tell him that there will be a reward if he can help me track him down....The G/F finds me(shes in the car with a neighbour)... The little bastard only took a pack of smokes...what a relief!!!!.......I continue to search with my neighbour in car....stopping and talking to anyone out and about....basically organizing a manhunt....I was bound and determined to catch this little fucker and have him "fall down" before I involved the police... I come across the flyer kid again....he informs me that the little bastards friend was just at my place talking to my G/F.....I find the friend...he actually waves me over as I drive to him....(I know this kid...he mows my lawn ect...)..He tells me that his friend fucked up and is very sorry and scared....he had just returned the stolen smokes....and didnt know his friend(the little bastard) was gona do that..and that when his friend showed up with the smokes and the story of stealing them from me...he informed him that I was cool and paid well for yard work etc...and promptly came down to return the smokes and appoligze for his friend... He stated that he didnt want to "rat" out his friend but if I insisted...he would be able to convince him to come and appoligze in person...I talked to him for a bit...letting him know how pissed I was at his friend....lying to him that I knew what his friend looked like and putting out a serious warning about fucking with me and or my neighbours.... In the end.....I told him this time... I would let it slide.....but myself and others in the neighbourhood would be watching them closely. So thats my Holiday Excitement....Did I do right in letting it slide or should I have found the little fucker and had him "fall" down and brought the police in??? What would you have done??? Edited to add: I tracked down the flyer kid and tossed him a $20...thanking him for his help.
Amazon 7 #2 October 10, 2004 I would think that if you did help the kid fall down the authorities.. at least in a lot of areas would be more prone to screw with you instead of the minor. I would say at this point you have a major leverage point to actually help the kid. He is at a junction.. doing the right thing.. or getting into more bad stuff.. whats next.. the wallet and other things? Have the friend who mows the lawn bring him over to help.. be a positive influence in the kids life and he may end up better in the long run. You may be the one to make a real difference in a life going the wrong way.
blueskyserenity 0 #3 October 10, 2004 Wow! That was a really exciting story. I was right there w/ you jumping fences and patrolling the neighborhood. I am VERY impressed at the culprits friend to not only return the smokes but stand up for his friend and be willing but not ready to rat his friend out. I think you did the right thing. Sent a very clear message. I can only hope the friend goes back to the sweatshirt wearing little shit and gives him MAJOR HELL as any good friend would when you f'ed up! Why do I feel gratified from this event? Interesting....I like coconuts. You can break them open and they smell like ladies lying in the sun!

He would have fallen running away from comitting a serious crime....no marks from me....just a nasty case of road/rock rash from falling while sprinting at full speed...oopsy...no witnesses...damn kid invaded my home and stole from me But I do hear what you are saying....his friend will be able to make a few bucks once its time to rake...and if the "little bastard" is with him...so be it.... Hmmm...as I was typing this.....the friend knocked on my door asking if I needed my lawn mowed........he knew it didnt need it....said he needed $10...........I was nice and told him to come back when the yard needed to be raked...along with reafirming my displeasure with the earlier events.... This does not appear to be over yet.....something smells very bad to me
DeNReN 0 #5 October 10, 2004 Ty...I suck at writing...just relaying what happened...and if you read my responce to Jeanne....seems like this may not be over yet....has me a little concerned...letting it slide may come back to bite me
Ncrowe 0 #6 October 10, 2004 I'd demand a face to face with the kid, put the fear of god in him then let it slide. Hopefully he'll learn from his mistake. "Don't Mess Around With the Guy in Shades- Oh No!!! "
