hoppinnpoppin 0 #1 October 11, 2004 Hey there guys and ladies I am wondering if anyone would like to start a high altitude training team? I have been jumping out of planes since '96 but only started free falling a short while ago. I have found some interesting research on HIGH altitude and was wondering if anybody else is interested, you know group rate jump tickets plus it would be cool to get the extra min plus of free fall. for serious competitors looking to train up for next years finals. 30-40K ft. freefall? Anybody have any thoughts? Like why we don't do this regularly? YOU"VE BEEN THUNDER STRUCK! Send lawers, guns and money!!!!! The shit has hit the fan! To go any higher is simply inefficient (a waste of time and money climbing to altitude and oxygen use when not required). A better plan might be to spend the extra money on tunnel time and low altitude (4,500 AGL) exit practice.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
PhreeZone 20 #3 October 11, 2004 The extra altitude is useless for comp jumps. The air is too thin to efectively fly your body and the breathing of O2 the whole ride up sucks. There is a whole long list of why 20k+ skydives don't work for team training. $ is better spent in the tunnel or doing more jumps working on exits and things too.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
LouDiamond 1 #4 October 11, 2004 QuoteLike why we don't do this regularly? I could give a laundry list of reasons. The big one is getting the airspace clearance for 30K. Not too many places even have that option available to them so it's a moot point."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
quade 4 #5 October 11, 2004 QuoteThe air is too thin to efectively fly your body . . . This is only sort of true of the "hill" work and maybe not even all of that. Once you hit terminal, it's all the same.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
