Paige 0 #1 September 21, 2004 So.....my b/f has been asleep (next to me) for hours. I've popped pain pills, drank wine and liquor, and smoked...some other substances. I would try warm milk but I don't have a microwave just yet, it should be here tomorrow(What makes you sleep when you just can't? I've been having fits of insomia latetely , any suggestions on how to beat this stuff?!?! I am willing to try anything I don't like tea (Chi and hot chocolate are diff) but am willing to give anything a shot. PurpleWill 1 #2 September 21, 2004 I think you should wake up the b/f and make him do what is needed to get you sufficiently exhausted. It's his duty, right? There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
Sheenster303 0 #3 September 21, 2004 I would love some suggestions as well! I decided to take another Oxy because my ear was hurting pretty bad earlier. It is supposed to make you drowsy. The problem is that I feel my eyes are really tired but everytime I try to sleep I just can't keep my eyes shut. People say it's because my body isn't tired enough to go to sleep. I do nothing all day so that can be true. I used to think about skydiving to get myself to go to sleep, but now everytime I think about it, I think of my leg breaking. That's no good to go to sleep to.I'm so funny I crack my head open! P.M.S. #

Already tried that twice but I'm still wired Thanks for the idea though, I'm sure he would appreciate it as much as I did/do I'm not one of those reserved girls, so I made my intentions clear both times I hopped in bed 'attempting' to sleep. He's the one that takes care of me all day and works from before I wake up, to boot. I broke my hip so sometimes he's all I got. As an incredibly independent woman its hard to ask him or any male/female, friend for that matter to help me at all. Any adivce past that? Seems like we are the only few up?!?!Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com
FlailingJohn 0 #5 September 21, 2004 www.shuteye.com I have also read and tried this. Try keeping you room to a certain temperture. I believe the temperture was 67 degrees for some reason a colder enviorment helps you fall asleep. johnI threw my confidence out the airplane door years ago......... I'm still on crutches till the end of the month, when I go back to the orthopeidic/surgeon. I was on Oxy and Perkoset (sp?) but now Lortabs don't do shit I'm hoping I can prove to the doctor that I am not hooked (total truth); I can get pills that actually kill the pain. Ugh, physical threapy sucks and it hurts no matter how long or hard I do it. Can't wait to be healed enough to fly in the tunnel on Oct. 31stHope all is well with you and that you sleep sooner than I. FlyingJ 0 #10 September 21, 2004 Sounds kind of stupid considering what you have tried, but ever taken something like NyQuil? I've got a friend that could take any pain killer or sleeping pill on the market and not even yawn, but after a dose of NyQuil she is out cold. -j.Killing threads since 2004. Sheenster303 0 #11 September 21, 2004 I had Loratab when I came out of the hospital after they did surgery on my leg. Those things really were useless. I had to take those plus 2 tylenol for me to even feel slightly bit better. They only gave me enough for a week and haven't prescribed me anything since then and it's been a month and a half. I have the Oxy because of my ear "problem" . I'm going to use that later on when I get my walking cast and my leg starts hurting more. Seems like we're both just having a hard time right now. I wish I could get through an entire night without waking up. That would be great.I'm so funny I crack my head open! P.M.S. #

Zenister 0 #15 September 21, 2004 unless you actually consume enough to get drunk the alcohol didnt help.. find a book, read until your eyes can stay open..... dont do it in bed.. the key to beating insomina is to train your mind and body that the bed and the bedroom are for sleeping.....well that and sex.... speaking of a good orgasm is often effective, waken your bf or kill a kitten or three....____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Skycow 0 #19 September 21, 2004 Hi Paige, I have the same problem! I haven't really slept through the night in years...it's become a major problem over the last several months because of personal issues. I tried everything! Seemed drinking made the problem worse. On a long shot I tried Tylenol's Simply Sleep. It's the most amazing stuff!! It doesn't knock you out - it's a slow gradual sleep and I don't feel crappy in the morning. It's worth a try. I have some that I can give you next time I see you at the DZ. Good luck! Sandy Enjoy here while you're here because there's no here there.
skybytch 273 #20 September 21, 2004 QuoteWhat makes you sleep when you just can't? Let's see, I've tried exercise, warm milk, no caffeine after 3pm, a few beers, some other substances, a warm shower, Tylenol PM, pain killers, muscle relaxants, Ativan (an anti-anxiety med), dispatching numerous kittens to Valhalla, reading a boring book, reading a good book, watching a movie, spending time in the chair instead of laying on the bed, post whoring... Out of all of those the only one that is reasonably reliable is the Ativan, and I usually only get 3 or 4 hours of good sleep out of it. The only thing I have on hand but haven't tried yet is Ambien - I've heard that works wonderfully. Lemme know when you figure it out. btw, from my experience being on pain meds they don't kill the pain. All they ever did for me was lessen the intensity and make me not care quite as much. Be very careful if you're mixing them with alcohol.
Vallerina 2 #21 September 21, 2004 I take melatonin (3 mg) an hour before going to bed. I've tried taking Alluna, but I'm not sure if it does much good. I also drink milk an hour before going to bed. If you're having a stressful day, journalling an hour or two before going to bed can help, too. Warm baths also can help. I used to have horrible insomnia. It's better now. I don't wake up as much during the night anymore. Quotedrank wine and liquor, and smoked...some other substances. That actually makes insomnia worse. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
