flyingferret 0 #7 October 11, 2004 Yep, using Trillian, but it has been flaking all day. Have been unable to connect most of it. Of course I think typically MSN and their UDP sucks anyway, but I have friends on it...so.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. cvfd1399 0 #18 October 11, 2004 mine took over outlook everytime outlook starts it starts up. I have looked everywhere on how to disable that. It started after i installed Service pack2
flyingferret 0 #19 October 11, 2004 Actually you are referring to windows messenger, not at all the same thing, although M$ makes that very confusing. There are a few options. The primary one is to go into the options in Outlook, choose other, and turn off the instant messaging in Outlook. This will prevent Outlook from starting it. However, unless you are in corporate environment and need windows messenger, I would also recommend option two: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/learnmore/stopspam.mspx Turn off the service.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. Sheenster303 0 #21 October 11, 2004 I've been trying to update my messenger to the newest version for a couple of weeks now, but everytime I go to the website it won't start downloading. flyingferret 0 #22 October 11, 2004 Consider using another client like Trillian or G-AIM. I find them much easier and less ad-ridden than the 'official' messenger.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

I used to use Trillian on my old computer, but I totally forgot about it when I got my new one. I use MSN, Yahoo and AIM so Trillian works really good for me. Thanks for reminding me of that. flyingferret 0 #25 October 11, 2004 Yepper :) Since my friends cannot all act together, I run ICQ, MSN, AIM, and Yahoo. Personally, I still like ICQ best, but "wow, the pretty emoticons" made everyone switch. ICQ is still the only service that will reliably deliver offline messages.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
