It won't cover any property or pain and suffering. Dunno if this is different for motorcycles or what, but uninsured motorist covers the damage to your vehicle. I got hit by an uninsured motorist once and the uninsured coverage paid for the complete repair, with no deductable. Here UMI will usually cover property, and I believe you may be able to collect against it for lost wages. It may do a bit more the medical policy. fundgh 0 #27 October 13, 2004 I appreciate all the great feedback, but unfortunately, I do not have UMI on my bike. As it was stated earlier, the cost of Motorcycle insurance is drastically affected by additional coverages like collission and UMI. I paid $130 for a year of insurance (liability only) and the motorcycle was only $1700, so I did not see the need to spend too much on insurance. I guess I did not think about UMI and it was not mentioned as a selling point. The bottom line is that I am trying to find out what the law says in California, or what my best option is to get some money out of this guy. I don't think he has a lot of money, but he is a contractor for Charter Communications, so he does have a job. Thanks for the input....FUN FOR ALL!
