davedlg 0 #4 October 13, 2004 damn...this question comes up at least once a day. Maybe we should start a "spyware forum" Try hijackthis... if you know what you are doing, you can remove almost anything with it.
skymama 37 #5 October 13, 2004 Do a search for Spyware threads that I've done, I got a lot of good info on there. What I finally had to do was turn off the System Restore in XP after getting rid of everything. Spy Sweeper did the best job for me.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

CrazyIvan 0 #13 October 13, 2004 Most likely you got a "hijacker", usually are bundled in the CRACK.EXE or a START.EXE, so you know next time. What they do is add keys to the registry to re-route websites, also check your Windows\system32 folder for a reg2.exe. That's all I remember right now.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.

bwilling 0 #17 October 13, 2004 Quotefdisk works well too. LOL, sometimes that the easiest way to clean them up, and the only way they'll ever be right again! But aren't there some other steps involved after running fdisk? "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got." PhillyKev 0 #19 October 13, 2004 Seriously though...a couple of key things otherwise nothing will remove them. First, turn off System Restore if you're running Windows XP. Second, boot into safe mode before running the spyware removal. As long as you do those two things first, it's very rare that spybot and Ad-Aware won't be able to clean it. Oh yeah, and make sure you've updated both of them first as well.
catfishhunter 2 #20 October 13, 2004 ROFLMAO Yeah he would trip if I went messin in the registry. I have no problem poking around in my registry at home but on this computer...nope.. Thanks for the help though. I hope spybot S&D can get rid of the rest then I don't have to piss The IT guy off in the morning....
