Evelyn 0 #51 October 11, 2004 Quote As for the Flyaway tunnel, yeah it's no Skyventure, but an hour in the Vegas tunnel got me back into the sport after I'd recieved the bowling lecture, so I'm kind of partial to it. I went to Flyaway in Vegas last year when I got stuck on my AFF level 4 (the Perris tunnel wasn't yet done) and after flying the Vegas tunnel I was then able to pass. I was in Vegas this past weekend and spent all day Saturday learning to sit fly in the tunnel. There were 3 other skydivers there who also spent the day flying the tunnel. Although it isn't Skyventure, it definitely can be used for training. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

FlyinNover 0 #53 October 13, 2004 QuoteGoing to Vegas for a few days, this will be my beer time - what should I not miss? Obviously I'll lose some money at the blackjack table and probably craps. Cirque du Soleil is on my list of 'things to see' - what else is good? I didn't read the thread, so if I repeat something that was already said.....well, go there. :) Since it's your first time, if it's not too hot, walk the strip. Just take a look at everything. There really isn't another city as extravagant. It's like you took a coked up five year old, gave him a trillion dollars, and said, "This is your sandbox, build me something." Paris is worth a visit, as is NY,NY, the Luxor, the Bellagio, and Excalibur. The Stratosphere has a great ride "Big Shot", and a crappy roller coaster. But don't go if you're afraid of heights. Skip out on the animatronic show at Caeser's (it's a glorified commercial), but make sure you get to the front of the pack to see the water show at Bellagio. Also get a good vantage point for the pirate show at Treasure Island. Especially if you're going with kids. If you're not going with kids, Vegas has some good night life. I recommend Cheetah's, which I believe is the only strip joint in Nevada whose name is a triple entendre. The Piano Bar at Times Square in New York, New York is a great time, and you HAVE TO check out the rollercoaster there. I'd put it in my top five. (picture attached, tell me how lucky I got with the timing!) While you're there, take a chopper tour of the Grand Canyon, and see Hoover Dam (take the tour!) Damn, now I want to go back. Online poker will have to do....... Edited to add: DO NOT MISS the flair bartenders at Carnival Court right next to Harrah's. This is some sick shit they do. I was out there for 5 days a few years ago for my brothers wedding.......we went here at least once every day. These guys are the best in the world. Make sure to get a seat at the bar. ---Nover

Zennie 0 #55 October 13, 2004 A few random thoughts.... As a BASE jumper, I really want to do the bungy jump in front of Circu Circus again. besides Bridge Day for my very first BASE jump, it's the only time my knees literally turned to jello. Wonder if they'd let me do a McConkey off the thing.... The fountains at the Bellagio are a must-see. I haven't seen Penn & Teller, though I most definitely will next time, they do a double bullet catch that's supposed to be amazing. Cirque du Soleil is always good, though I hear Mystere is better than "O". The mall at the Venetian is very cool, as is the mall at Ceasars. I personally enjoy blackjack, but learn your tables before you go. The Space Shot at the Stratosphere is also a hoot. As a BASE jumper, I have other things I'd like to do, but I gotta keep that hush hush. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
GeordieSkydiver 0 #56 October 13, 2004 I just got back from Vegas on Monday, spent 5 days there. I recommend the Blue man group, Stratosphere, Speed @ Sahara, Margaritaville, Bite @ Stratosphere (made me laugh all the way through, trouble is, I dont think it was meant to be funny). Steaks at the Harley cafe were awesome, walking the strip has to be done. Oh I also went to the flyaway place, I wanted to practice changing my fall rate, I could fly ok, but it felt like there wasn't enough air moving around, it was fun,but I didn't benefit from it. Only $40 though. Lee PS Standing in the Stratosphere, looking directly down through the viewing glass, I've never wanted to jump so much in all my life. I'm now looking into doing my first BASE jump.... Edited to add flyaway visit.Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk

falxori 0 #58 October 14, 2004 QuoteOh, I forgot, dont count on that JT guy to reply to your PMs about having a beer with ya. Maybe that JTVal2 guy is more dependable... well, he did answer my PMs and he did accept my beer offer, but when i got there (from the other side of the planet...) he was nowhere to be seen... maybe next time i'll talk to JTVal2 too... and blue man rocks. the star trek ride in the hilton was nice (i was forced to go...). don't go near the 3D ride in the venician mall (i think it was there) , its a piece of shit that just rocks you for 30 minutes... other than that, its all been said already... and BJ , dont forget BJ. go to the one near the circus circus where you can gamble for less ($1-3 instead of minimum 5-10). damn, i want to go back there... They had increased numbers of tourists, but were making less money. They're going back to the "Sin City" philosophy. Almost every hotel on the strip has topless shows again, and the pirate show at TI is full of scantily clad hot vixens. Vegas is Disney World for adults. If you want to take the kids somewhere, take 'em to that other Disney World.

But like PhillyKev said, there is so much to see and do there, if you just get out and walk around you will run into cool things at every corner. For $20 I'll call the guy a CHICKENFUCKER!
