Where to register?

Recommended Posts

New question.

The lady "helping" us with the registry stuff at Bed, Bath and Beyond was telling us to register for all these little things, like a potato peeler and tongs, as well as stuff like cookware sets and knives and linnens and such.

What do yall think about that?

My take is all the little $10 and less stuff I'll end up buying eventually, the stuff like a cookware set is something that I see as a registery type gift. Am I just being too weird about not wanting to be an asshole with the registry?

Target...forget about that other thread.

:P Target sucks when it comes to returning items on your registry. You can only return up to $200 worth of items without a receipt and it must be on your registry. SO, if people buy you stuff not on your registry and you want to exchange it for stuff on your registry and they didn't include a gift receipt, which no one does, forget it.

Bed, Bath and Beyond has been a dream during William's and my registry. Target has cockamamie rules. For more Target bashing, see my thread. B|

I did that - I registered for items that were $3 because not everyone can afford or want to give the $200 coffee maker. There are actually a lot of items on my registry that are under $20. I think it is rude to register for expensive items, only.

I kinda feel stupid registering for something that costs under $10, does that make sense?

You shouldn't. Sometimes one person might buy several of the little things and put them together in a basket or something.

Gah! Beat me! Dave, yes register for them. If someone is on a budget, but still wants to get you something off the registry, they could spend $15, $20, or $25, and put together a package.

Or, I've seen people use little gifts as gift wrap accessories. If nothing else, you'll have a handy list of the things you want to shop for later!

Don't worry dude - NO ONE will think you're an asshole, they'll either get you something, or not. This is YOUR and MORGAN'S day! Do what you want!!

By the way, it really is awfully sweet of you to be so considerate.

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

I agree with the women who said people like to make baskets for gifts. Theme baskets like that are a lot of fun to get and give. In addition, while you could probably afford those things, you probably won't go out and buy one before you realize you need one. You'll be standing in the kitchen with a potato in your hand thinking, "damn it, we don't have a potato peeler because I took it off the list!" Just leave it on. ;)

Ok, ok, thanks everyone, I'll just keep my mouth shut when we go finish up the registering, I'll just nod and hold her hand.:P:)
Seriously though, thanks everyone for the help, obviously I've never done this before, neither has Morgan, so we're learning as we go.:)

Do that throughout your entire marriage and it will all go smoothly. ;)

Why should gals have all the "shower" fun-We threw a bash for a pal and loaded him down with tools and Home Depot cards....and it goes over a lot better with the bride-to-be than a stag party.
Still didn't answer you registration question, but I'm consistantly an idiot like that

OK, Aggie guys, set Dave up right
I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

I had a friend who just got married. I was appalled at her registry. They actually registered for a silverware set that cost over $1000. I am glad I bought the first day I got my invite, because affordable gifts were few and far between!

Granted, I'm not in the marriage boat, but as a wedding-goer, I like buying lots of little things. I like wrapping up 5-10 little items rather than just giving two plates, or a pan.

As a recommendation, if you are looking to register for pots/pans, and since others will be buying them, calphalon is EXCELLENT. pricier, but solid as a rock!

Don't forget to register for a margarita set. Absolute necessity.

Maybe she had a rich grandma that told her to register for it?

Morgan's grandma told her she better register for some nice china...still though, $1000? DAMN, the silverware better polish themselves.

Don't worry, that's gonna be coverd. Bed, Bath and Beyond has a cool set that's $20. There's that and then a general bar set, highball, martini glasses, etc.;)B|

That's cool of you and your buddies!

Most of my buddies are broke skydivers or former Corps of Cadet buddies, 1/2 of which are 2nd/1st Lt.'s in the Marine Corps or Ensigns in the Navy. Like hell they could do that, and there's no way I could expect anything besides a fun night getting drunk with my buddies (it'll be fun, possibly epic). I think I make more money as a TI then they make.:P
