BoostedXT 0 #1 October 17, 2004 A side of me that says sell the gear? I enjoy jumping, but I have lost a lot of my desire to jump. I firmly feel that this is a sport that unless youplan on jumping all the time stay on the ground because your a risk. I make about 5-8 jumps a month, an the last time I was 1 week away from being uncurrent and it didnt bother me....before I was always there, ready to go and jump. It just seems the fun is gone. Sorry for the "cry me a river" postJoeFor long as you live and high you fly and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry and all that you touch and all that you see is all your life will ever be. AggieDave 6 #2 October 17, 2004 I've been there before. It takes a kickass jump or something new to keep your insterest. Have you thought about going to a boogie or visiting a new boogie to keep the instrest going?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." BoostedXT 0 #3 October 17, 2004 I have considered it......I think you hit the nail on the head with the kick ass jump thing. Boogies are all to far away and I cant get the time off from work. flyangel2 2 #4 October 17, 2004 Could it be the DZ you are jumping at? How's the vibe out there? For me the vibe of the DZ makes me want to get out to that DZ and skydive with all my friends. You don't have to go to a big boogie, heck, just head down to Aggieland and those guys will show you a kick ass time.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Breezejunky 0 #7 October 17, 2004 It's hard for me to believe now, but last year, I actually saw myself letting it all slip way. I couldn't (wouldn't) admit I had lost interest but I had. What changed my mind? Again, can't explain it but I finally felt like I "bonded" with someone at my new DZ ( I had moved to Ontario from Alberta) What was the bonding experience? A drunken conversation that turned into a drunken argument that I had with a married skydiver (just to point out that there was nothing sexual about the night) until the sun came up. Suddenly something felt like "the good old days" and I was once again obsessed. Shortly after that a very close jumping friend who had been in the sport for over 20 years but had been off for a while due to an injury expressed the same feelings. She was getting out. I was sad, and I told her what happened to me but you can't really describe that feeling to anyone and when someone loses the passion, it's hard to justify the lifestyle.. Anyway, her first jump back after a year was this incredible demo jump and suddenly she was reinspired also. You never know what it might take, but it's got to come from the heart. If that night never happened to me, I might never have jumped again.....God, that's so hard to imagine now! Having come that close to quitting once, and seeing what I've done and who I've met since then....I think the only way I'll leave now is in a body bag. (Do they actually still have body bags?) flyangel2 2 #9 October 17, 2004 Well if you drive like me, plan on at least 16 hours or a little more. I tend to take my time when I'm on a road trip. I have found if you take Hwy287 rather then I-70 it's faster. Just load up your car and take a dive.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Slowfaller 0 #11 October 17, 2004 I know what you're going through Joe, going through the same thing myself. I probably make less jumps a month than you and just don't feel motivated to drive over an hour to the dz and jump. Every year it seems I have to force myself to go to the DZ and something special has to be going on. For instance this year I've done something like 7 or 8 jumps. Only During the 4th of july gathering/boogie and Summerfest. I used to think it was because I didn't know anyone there but I can't use that as an excuse anymore. Everytime I'm there I meet more people, more people say hi to me and there is some sort of an adventure. Whether it be playing poker all night w/ Chef Timmy or going off roading in Rook's Geo Tracker before riding bicycles on the runway. I really hope you find your motivation to become a regular current jumper because you love it so much, I'm sure we all had/have to look hard for it at one point. ltdiver 3 #12 October 17, 2004 (19345) (1 year in the sport) (A 2147483647). Curious. How many jumps to you -really- have? In my short 8 years in the sport I've gone through many cycles of discovery. I've found that when something new is being learned then I can't wait to get to the DZ. We all like the feeling of discovery. When that has been satisfied, then we move on. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

BoostedXT 0 #14 October 17, 2004 41 total jumps...I need to find something that is desirable....or brings that fire back, or the gear will be set aside for a while. fatflying 0 #15 October 17, 2004 Well Mr.XT, I would say this: SHUT UP AND JUMP!!! Don't give anyone the satisfaction of knowing that there will be an extra slot on a load becouse your not there. I used to do 5 to 10 jumps a weekend, now after five months of recovery, and possibly more, depends on Dr.Jeckle. I have some money saved up enough to keep me in the air for a while. And its all I think about. So at least do me a favor go out and do a jump for me. I my not be back for months, if at all. Keep your chin up.FATONES tAKE A TWO WEEK VACATION FROM WORK, AND SKYDIVE EVERYDAY. CALL ME IN THE MORNING.
RkyMtnHigh 0 #16 October 17, 2004 Joe So sorry to hear that you're considering selling your gear and not skydiving anymore.... If you can think back to Thanksgiving last year when you and I did some AFF levels at Gold Coast and how you felt when you did your first jump; that adrenalin rush; that feeling of being so alive..perhaps that will help. I remember your L1 jump and that HUGE GRINI honestly think that when you get to go to another dz and get on some kuhl jumps with kuhl people, that it may turn things around for you. However, regardless of your decision, I support you 100%. _________________________________________
BoostedXT 0 #17 October 17, 2004 I know and I wish I could still feel like that, but it just seems that its become more of a chore than an enjoyment. We shall see....
