peacefuljeffrey 0 #1 October 16, 2004 What songs do you think people would have been using for videos, if the "tandem age" had blossomed in the 1970s instead of so much more recently? What songs lend themselves to the same sort of thing, but were around in the '70s? What songs do you think people would have thought worked well for videos in that period? To get things rolling, I'm thinking they could have used, "Stayin' Alive," from Saturday Night Fever... Remember, don't be afraid to "go corny," but please offer songs that people actually might have used. Blue skies, -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... AggieDave 6 #2 October 16, 2004 Paint it Black Satisfaction Of course all the freakflier video guys would dub their videos together with the electronica of the day. Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters album, etc.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

JohnMitchell 16 #4 October 16, 2004 Oh yeah, I was jumping back then. Blue Oyster Cult- Don't Fear the Reaper Steve Miller Band- Fly Like an Eagle James Gang- The Bomber If I never hear Tom Petty's "Freefalling" again, it'll be too soon. That song was used to death for some earlier tandem videos.

I like the other suggestions you posted. Those would be great '70s songs for a skydive video. On the subject of modern songs, has anyone heard of a girl named Patty Rothberg? I caught up with a demo CD of hers called "Between the One and Nine." It has some awesome songs on it, and there's one really bright positive one called, "Change Your Ways" that I think could be a good song for a tandem video. "I dreamed I was a butterfly No end to the rainbow in the clear blue sky Woke up with the stardust still in my eye I said 'Life's a dream, I'm gonna give it a try!' Because now is the time to change your ways, Now is the rest of your days So forget old dreams that have passed this way No more hangin' on to yesterday Baby, reminiscin' bout all the years Feelin' too much pain, cryin' too many tears But there's a smile on my face for every tear that I cry We all have a rainbow deep inside..." I find myself surprised we haven't heard more from Patty Rothberg. -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" One of my last customers sent me an SMS to ask who sung it as she wanted to buy the CD Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
flyingferret 0 #10 October 18, 2004 Except all of those are still used There is a whole subset of music, which can collectively be referred to as that Wayne Keese/Van Halen genre that I cannot hear without thinking of tarmac, nylon, and cessna exhaust. The likes of VH - Jump, Ram Jam - Black Betty, Poetry in motion, Freebird, Dangerzone. Not really petty because I was a fan before jumping. My 70s song votes for tandems would be: Fleetwood: Go your own way Gueen: Bohemian Rhapsody Gaynor: I will survive Maybe BGs: Staying Alive The freeflyer would be using aggiedave's acid jazz and stuff like: Ramones: I wanna be sedated Black Sabbath: Sweet Leaf or Into the Void Zeppelin: Custard Pie Floyd: Wish you were here. I don't know just some guesses. I was not alive yet :) That would rock, actually, video with freeflyers wearing 'conventional' gear and balloon suits and dubbed in glorious 70s sound. That would be a sweet project.....hmmmm...-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Eagles- Life in the Fast Lane would be a good video song.
