dropdeded 0 #1 October 19, 2004 Couple birds with one stone here. A job opportunity has been brought to my attention that Im just starting to research and figure theres people here that can give insight on one, the other or both. A friend is talking to someone that has spent some time on oil pipeline worksites in Alaska as a Paramedic. Im gonna talk to this guy and get more info but... Kind of interested in maybe going and spending some months as an EMT on something like this. I know there is several fellow EMS workers on this site and if any of you have any comments or suggestions, they are appreciated. Now, theres the jumping issue, I mean its Alaska (not sure where in Alaska), uh, been there done that??? dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
Amazon 7 #2 October 19, 2004 Ok.. Jumping up there is spare.. there is Wasila but I would imagine that might be a tad chilly for this time of year until say.... April at the earliest.. Next how do you feel about DARK..... Days get really short I spent some time in Fairbanks for a winter..... REALLLY dark.. Sun came up in late late morning.. and set before 1:30... SE Alaska.. not that cold, the Pacific keeps it a tad more moderate but if you get to the inside of the Alaska Range... BRRRR... When I was there prices for nearly everything was far higher than in the lower 48 and housing was fairly expensive. Flip side is if you can get a hovel or housing thru the company.. the pay is usually better and you can put some serious bucks away to come back south.
