Vallerina 2 #1 October 17, 2004 I know that many of you are laughing at the thread title because we have things like steal mills and lots of corn. You may have thought that I was going to talk about the popular races that we have here. This weekend, I went to a little spot called Brown County. http://www.browncounty.com/ I needed to get away, and I wanted to immerse myself in nature during the best time of the year. For me watching the leaves change every year is like getting presents on Christmas morning. It makes what's normally a flat, green background look three dimensional. Every tree is its own little painting. Plus, it smells soooo good! Brown County is known for its beautiful trees in the fall. They have the largest state park in Indiana, and they also have a cute, little town nearby where people spend lots of money. I took a few pictures with my camera phone (best investment ever), and I thought I'd share what makes me feel good about living in the Midwest. It was nice driving there, and I was getting all excited, and I just wanted to run out of my car! I finally got to the park, and started taking in all the views I hiked a few trails, and one of them took me to a lake that I sat by reading a book and writing in my journal. Later in the day, I decided to go horseback riding!!! My butt is still sore from it, but it was a lot of fun! I had the horse that acted up, and he ate non-stop!!! He also hopped over stuff instead of stepping over it like the other horses. I went on the running trail since the little kids had to go on the walking trail. I thought I was going to die!!!! I had a great time there, and it was exactly what I needed. My brother is taking his wife to one of their little bed and breakfasts that look like this for their anniversary this coming up weekend, and I'm jealous because the colors will be even better then! So, if you ever get "stuck" in Indiana, trust me, it's not all that bad! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
misskriss 0 #2 October 18, 2004 Sounds like you had a great time!! Good for you on taking time out for yourself. It looks like a beautiful place. I love fall as well and there is nothing more beautiful than the leaves changing. I haven't been to Indiana but have been to Indiana County in Pennsylvania..[;) Jraf and I were here http://www.smicksburg.com/ about a month ago ago and it was so beautiful and peaceful. I won't forget the little Amish boy of about 6 peeking out of his barn and waving at us. I so wish I had a picture of him.
2fat2fly 0 #3 October 19, 2004 I was impressed with the area around Indianapolis when I was there. Other than the working part of my day, I had a great time. I hope that I get to get back to Jerry's for a jump sometime in the future.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
Vallerina 2 #4 October 19, 2004 QuoteI was impressed with the area around Indianapolis when I was there. I like Indy because it's a "city" for people like me who like cities, but it's still one of the quieter ones around. It's also pretty clean. QuoteI hope that I get to get back to Jerry's for a jump sometime in the future. Good people! And thanks for the link, Kriss! When are you coming to Chicago? kinney29 0 #5 October 19, 2004 Indianapolis is a great city. I moved here two years ago knowing no one and nothing about the city. The people here are awsome. Some of the most wonderful friends I could imagine I met here. I am proud to be a Hoosiers if they'll claim me!
