Spizzzarko 0 #1 October 20, 2004 So anyways, The wife and I were Bar-b-quing Sunday night and this dog comes up and decided to stay with us. She had no collar on and no identification. We have been walking her around to see if she will lead us to her home, but she just leads us back to our house. She's an older Chocolate lab and very well behaved, especially in the house if you know what I mean (no surprises left for us). I'm a little scared to put up flyers with her picture on it, because I don't want any freaks to try to claim her even though she isn't theirs. She will be well taken care of at out house. flyangel2 2 #2 October 20, 2004 Try to find the owner. I would be so upset if any of my dogs were lost and I couldn't find them. Does he/she have any kind of identifying mark? A true owner will know every bump and mark on a dog.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Spizzzarko 0 #3 October 20, 2004 One or two. I'm just skeptical because I took her to the vet for a checkup and they found a BB lodged in her mouth, and she has a few other scars. So I'm just worried that she was abused, and I don't want her to return to that. Do you know what I mean?
flyangel2 2 #4 October 20, 2004 Well now we're getting the whole store. What did the vet say about abuse? Most times a vet can tell if an animal has been abused. What was the dog's weight? Keep in mind, the BB could have been shot at the dog while he/she was lost by someone that doesn't like dogs.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. skymama 37 #5 October 20, 2004 Maybe she came so that you could go save Timmy in the well! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Do the right thing and at least put up some flyers. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Cornholio 0 #6 October 20, 2004 Well, if you took her to the vet, they should have checked for a microchip. all my dogs are chipped, just in case this ever happens. I'd put up fliers anyway. Bottom line is you don't know for sure her history if abused, and the dog is NOT yours. I'd be pissed if my dog got out, ate some bbs, and then some dude decided what is best for her. I'd beat the crap out of the person that had my dog if I found they had my dog. Ok, rant over. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Spizzzarko 0 #7 October 20, 2004 I'm going to put up flyers but I'm not going to put her picture on it. Do you think that is wise? The vet said the BB had been in there for awhile. She's a little thin, but not skin and bones.
Spizzzarko 0 #8 October 20, 2004 Your pretty aggresive... No the dog is not chipped. Take your aggression someplace else other than DZ.com.
skymama 37 #9 October 20, 2004 Yeah, I think you should just put, "Found: Chocolate Lab" and your phone number. Then when the people call, you can ask for any special marks, the sex, a name that it might answer to, etc.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
flyangel2 2 #10 October 20, 2004 I have all my dogs chipped too. But I heard a story on the news about some chips that were placed in some animals that the chip reader doesn't pick up. Darn, I wish I could remember what chips they were. They weren't the Home Again chips, but ones that PetSmart were using.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. windcatcher 0 #11 October 20, 2004 I say keep her! I love dogs, and since her owners weren't responcible enough to keep ids on her, they probably don't care too much that she's gone. If the owners did happen to stop at your house and ask if you've seen their dog, then yeah, give her back. But keep her, because she could end up getting put to sleep if nobody claims her. 2 cents. JohnnyD 0 #13 October 21, 2004 Try to find the owner. Someone probably misses her very much. If you can't and need a home for her, let me know. I'm just a hop north and my wife would love me forever.

Slow down, collars fall off. I'm a very responsible dog owner, but sometimes, not often, one of my dogs gets out front and decides to take him/her self for a walk. I'm lucky, by the time I've noticed they haven't gone far, and they are all well trained and come back when I call them. Corn, good idea about checking the chip, I’ll add that to my “to do” list when the dogs are in for check ups.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. dixieskydiver 0 #15 October 21, 2004 I have a lab and I know my family, my mom and I especially would be really upset if she got lost and we couldn't find her. Put up posters but try to confirm their ownership if possible, notify places where people would ask like local vets, animal control or animal shelters. Cornholio 0 #16 October 21, 2004 QuoteYour pretty aggresive... No the dog is not chipped. Take your aggression someplace else other than DZ.com. I sent this to you in a PM, but I think it's important for others to know why I feel this way... No aggression, just stating my opinion. Get over it. Obviously you don't see things the same way, or you would feel the same if your dog got out and some dude decided to keep it. How would you feel ? It's not up to you to keep the dog. Sure you may think it is, but what about if what others have said to be true ? What if the dog was shot by someone else, and the owner was hsysterical about not being able to find their dog ? Think about the owner man.. think about the dog... An abused dog would not let you come near it or be as friendly as you described. I'm not upset at you, yet... I'm just a dog owner speaking my opinion. Think about this - how would you feel if your dog escaped, got shot at, and then some dude decided to keep him ? Please tell me you wouldn't be just a little bent. Yes, if I found out that "someone" had my dog, and they refused to give it back based on what they thought was the right thing to do, I'd definitely beat the crap out of them or die trying. My pets are my family, not just 4 legged animals that eat, shit, and bark at people. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! jb092 0 #17 October 21, 2004 I would have to say continue looking for the owners. If I lost my dog I would be walking the neiborhood day and night looking for her!!!! What could possibly go wrong?
ypelchat 0 #18 October 21, 2004 I own a dog myself, and i would be pissed at someone keeping my dog, without doing any research to find the owner. Sometimes, childrens are in tears for weeks, looking for a dog that got loose but is nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, dogs often break their leashes. I think what you should do in this case is to post flyers in your neighborhood. You don't have to post a picture of the dog IMHO. Just post a general description of the animal. If you've got no reply within 3 or 4 weeks, then I think it's reasonable to say you could keep the dog. Yves.

Spizzzarko 0 #20 October 21, 2004 OK LISTEN UP! Yes I am looking for the owners of this dog. I'm going to put flyers out for the owners, but I'm not going to put the dogs picture on it. The owners will need to identify their dog. How would you feel if someone took your dog in and then gave it away to the wrong person?
ypelchat 0 #21 October 21, 2004 QuoteOK LISTEN UP! It's OK. No need to shout! Good Luck in finding the owner. And if you can't find the owner, then i guess you'll have a new member in your family to care for. Yves.

Viking 0 #23 October 21, 2004 i went through this a month ago. a little german shepperd puppy showed up at our door at like 2am. We brought her to the nearest Humane Animal shelter without a kill policy. That is a place that won't put the dog down if they don't find it a home within a certain amount of time. Probly the best thing you can do. Besides it SOOOO much more fun to raise your own dog from a puppy!!! puppies are soo cuuuuute!!!!I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
Spizzzarko 0 #24 October 21, 2004 Having the dog put down is not an option. IT will be well cared for here, but it will be turned over whenever the owners are found too. Whether that be one month or 6.
kai2k1 0 #25 October 21, 2004 Its the ADVAIR chip that sometimes moves, happened to my chocolate lab. Your vet will install a new one and bill them for it. Id say from the chip that she appears to be about 2-2 1/2 years old. Really REally pretty puppy though.
