AggieDave 6 #27 September 3, 2004 I fucking LOVE All Hallow's Eve! There's a long backstory about it, but basically Halloween is my favorite holiday. I hate the "cute" kids Halloween, though, I like the scary/dark holiday better.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
 VanillaSkyGirl 6 #36 September 3, 2004 I looked it up...HOW COOL!!! Taken from "Aggie Band" website: Flight of the Great Pumpkin In 1973 or therabouts, a certain outfit in the regiment, one C-2, filled a pumpkin with some of the most vile items imaginable (Deat cats, feces, urine, and other assorted nasty items), and tossed said pumpkin into the band dorm making an awful mess. Ever since then, they try and get this nasty pumkin into the band dorm on Holloween each year. The Aggie Band Freshman defend the dorm from the attackers made up of C-2 upperclassmen. My freshman year they had 5 decoy pumpkins come straight up the quad while they tried to sneak the real vile pumpkin through the side door by approching from behind the band hall. They failed, but it was a close run thing.
 AggieDave 6 #37 September 3, 2004 That's close, but not quite right. We didn't use "defiled" pumpkins, it was a single LARGE pumpkin that was carved out and on the Great Pumpkin's head. It was most definately not messed up with a lot of nasty crap in it. There's a LOT to that tradition besides besides the ceremony on the quad (the Corps of Cadets area), a whole lot. Its enough that the tradition has changed the life of the folks that were in C-2 for the past 30+ years and changed it for the better. There's a reason why I have a pumpkin with a rooster (the rooster is apart of C-2's company logo) tatooed on my back.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
