colintri 0 #26 October 22, 2004 Yeah, you're right. People either understand or don't understand that movie. I, myself, thought some of the characters were selfish and even self-absorbed. I loved the movie because it was a pure character-driven movie. No fancy or twisted plots, just dialogue among friends about life.

diablopilot 2 #34 October 22, 2004 Nice list! Casino is on mine for some of the absolutely breath taking shots in it as well as the story and sheer coolness factor. I'm gonna add another to my list. 5) Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back..... wait, all of the Kevin Smith Movies....he's pure genius....---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. AggieDave 6 #36 October 22, 2004 In no particular order 1) The Boondock Saints ("is it dead?") 2) Cool Hand Luke ("as long as I've got my plastic jesus...") 3) Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels ("someone has replaced our ganja with dead bodies...")--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." McDuck 0 #37 October 22, 2004 1) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Jim Carey NOT over the top, and wonderful play on light and color) 2) Fight Club (especially after reading Chuck Palahniuk's book) 3) Napoleon Dynamite (BEST affirmation of love EVER: "I caught you a delicious bass.") 4) Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy (for pure cheese and bucket's o'blood tossed in Bruce Campbell's face) 5) Boondock Saints (awesome cinematography coupled with a story telling timeline that had entertaining quirks) 6) Swingers (no explanation necessary if you've seen it; excellent discourse on how lame we men can be with regard to meeting and remaining with women) ...and on and on. Maybe some categories here would help. Like the umpteen awards shows for the entertainment industry. flyingferret 0 #38 October 22, 2004 I had them queued up and then the went out of circulation. Man on the Train is quite cool in my opinion, check out. Some nice dialog driven interaction between a criminal and quiet old man who each think the other's life would be better.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. DJL 235 #39 October 22, 2004 Quote 1. Napoleon Dynamite 2. Patton 3. Happy Gilmore All are similar, with epic stories and strong male leads. I thought that Patton was a little far fetched. hungarianchick 0 #42 October 22, 2004 Some of my favorites: Memento Casino 21 grams Mystic River Dead Man (an earlier flick with Johny Depp shot in black & white) And some of the more "main stream" ones: Gladiator The Brotherhood of the Wolf (french) The Ghost and the Darkness ( LOVED the scenery and music even if the story is not so good) Everybody talkes about the Boondock Saints, now I really have to watch it... JavaHeidi 0 #43 October 22, 2004 In no particular order, here's a list that I keep for when friends ask me what movies I highly recommend: The Cook, the Thief His Wife and her Lover Sweet Hereafter Donnie Darko Tigerland Fight Club Cement Garden Hanging Garden Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are Dead Dead Man Walking War Zone Dreaming of Joseph Lees Camille Claudel Jesus of Montreal Niagara, Niagara Twin Falls Idaho Passion in the Desert Memento Breaking the Waves Sweet & Low Down Jesus’ Son Waking the Dead The Pillow Book Europa, Europa Last Temptation of Christ Snow Falling on Cedars Girlfight Mulholland Drive (although Lynch drives me fucking CRAZY) The Princess and The Warrior (Der Krieger und die Kaiserin) Y Tu Mama Tambien Bowling for Columbine http://www.skydivethefarm.com The best lack all conviction, While the worst are filled with passionate intensity. wildblue 7 #44 October 22, 2004 21 Grams? Really? I watched that a few weeks ago... it was ok, but it was just weird (non-linear) for the sake of being weird... or at least I though... Usual Suspects Heat Amelie Lost in Translation Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Boondock Saints Memento Shawshank Redemption Dave, if Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is #3, then Snatch has to be #4 (both excellent movies) Of course the 'classics' like Apoc. Now, Full Metal Jacket, Princess Bride, etc... BTW - if you're thinking of getting into Netflix or Blockbuster online, PM me first please. Now would be a good time too, they're getting into a pointless pricing war - $17.49/month and $17.99/month. Blockbuster still gets my money - I get two free in-store rentals a month too it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
