tunaplanet 0 #51 March 23, 2004 Good news all you Bronco fans. You just picked up one of my favorite players. I hate to see him leave my Bucs, so take care of John Lynch. You're getting one of the best strong safeties in football. Good luck, John. Forty-two

lawrocket 3 #53 March 26, 2004 Jets will apparently be moving to an entirely different state! Actually, they'll be moving to New York, where they sya they are in the first place. Plans for a new stadium in Manhattan.... In other news, Lions made a pickup of Brock Marion at safety. It loks like the Lions are making some moves here. I doubt they'll be mediocre next year. GravityAddicts 0 #55 March 26, 2004 Go Bucs!! I am sad about Lynch leaving he was one, if not the most dominant Safety in the league. Sapp was the most versatile linemen . (BTW I dont have anything against Sapps hit, it is the NFL! players need to give 100% thats what you are getting paid for. . . if you dont. . . the guy next to you is (in this case Sapp) he will knock you out , because MAMA said to knock you out!) It is not over until the wistle blows. Back to the Bucs, I think Gruden has a good plan, they have been active in their picks. . .but Lynch, why him Tunaplanet . . CanuckInUSA 0 #56 March 26, 2004 QuoteI am sad about Lynch leaving he was one, if not the most dominant Safety in the league. I am very happy to welcome John Lynch to the Denver Broncos secondary and along with some of the other bold moves (Bailey for Portis) I think the Broncos defense will be much improved and could be one of the best corps in the league. Plus if the Broncos can sign Hearst, one would think that they should have a decent running game. Hmmm ... a potential dominant defense and a good running game. Nah that's not the receipe for a championship is it? Of course there are plenty of other good teams out there ... tunaplanet 0 #57 March 26, 2004 Hello Gravity. I too am a die-hard Bucs fan. I watch every team extremely closely as I like to keep abreast of the news in the NFL. As far as Lynch. it was a combination of several things. One was salary cap reasons. The Bucs are strapped and need some relief. Another reason that ties in directly with his release is his position. Having someone who is average to above average at that position compared to someone who is superb is not that great of a difference. It's not like comparing a superstar QB, RB. WR, LB, CB, etc... to an average one. Safeties are one of those positions where you can get by with someone adquate. The third reason for his release is his injury. The trainers feel it's one that will reoccur and he will not be the same. Is this true? Only time will tell. Plus, Lynch, however not old, is no spring chicken. The final reason for him being vut is Jermaine Phillips. While he is not the stud Lynch is, he is one who the Bucs see a lot of potential, not to mention he makes a lot less money. Hope that helps. CanuckInUSA 0 #58 March 26, 2004 It should also be common knowledge that teams want to unload a player while there is still value in them. I know Lynch was a free agent here, but you are totally right, in that the Bucs free up some salary room and get to give a younger guy a chance to play. I view this as probably a win-win for both the Bucs and the Broncos. Yes Lynch could get hurt (that's the risks), but his presence on the field will go a long way to help the Broncos defense and I've always been a believer of having good defensive units. So two thumbs up to Shannahan (referred to as "Rat-Face" by a few opposing fans) for sacrificing some offense for a better defense (possibly a dominant defense). cruzlite 0 #60 March 27, 2004 And Denver was scary enough last year.... If Gunnie doesn't pull the Chiefs D together quick... we're gonna have big problems with Denver & others... cruzlite 0 #62 March 27, 2004 Quote; "THe draft is crucial to every team every year with the salary cap." More so to the teams with glaring needs who get little accomplished in free agency. -------------------------------------------- 1st round names I'm hearing that could help the Chiefs; DT/Oregan/Igor Olshanski (Igor-I like it) CB/DeAngelo Hall/ Virginia Tech LB/Daryl Smith/Georgia Tech
tunaplanet 0 #63 March 27, 2004 DeAngelo Hall will not be there for your Chiefs. The Jets are showing a big interest in him. Igor Olshansky is a guy who looks to be snatched up as well. I'm guessing He will be nabbed by the Bucs, Seahawks or Titans. Doubt he will fall to you. Daryl Smith is a guy who should likely be there, but is more suspect to be a 2nd round pick. Here is what I think your boys will do. They should go with Michael Clayton, Reggie Williams or Will Poole. Before you start laughing at me for naming 2 WRs when they already have one of the best offenses in the league, you may be in for a surprise. Trust me. Gut instinct tells me they may lean towards one of the many great WRs in the 1st round. Afterall, Eddie Kennison and Johnnie Morton are average at best. If I had to make an early guess, I would lean towards Poole for you guys. Just my opinion. The key will be Igor. He has moved up and down on the draft boards so much recently. He is a physical miracle with his athleticism in a big body, but teams are concerned with the amount of time he's played. Will be interesting. Personally, I would love to see him in a Bucs jersey. tunaplanet 0 #65 March 29, 2004 Good news Bucs fans. Looks as though we are about to sign Darryl Russell to a 1 year deal. He is definitly a player who is capable of great things..... .....Now if he can only quit popping drugs like Pez candy and allowing his friends to rape women while he video tapes it Forty-two
lawrocket 3 #66 March 29, 2004 Daryl Russell? Yeah, good luck Bucs fans. This cat's a real winner. Remember, Tuna, Russell never did drugs. Just ask him. His friends spiked his drinks. He'll tell you. And all that pot was contact. Also, remember that the other players HATED him because he, like Moss, didn't think he should have to follow a scheme or system. Who on T-Bay will discipline him?
tunaplanet 0 #67 March 29, 2004 If the man can stay clean, he's a top DT. We'll see if he's changed his ways. I just hope his inevitable trial for the things he will get caught for this season are held at the end of the year. Forty-two

tunaplanet 0 #70 March 30, 2004 QuoteWill miss watching McCaffree... Yes you will. Your "football fans" that talk down about him and claim he gets injured too much and doesn't have great speep nor good hands, etc...have no clue what they are talking about. McCaffery was a huge piece of this offense. The effects of his departure will be felt. Hope they can fill him with someone adequate. Forty-two
lawrocket 3 #71 March 30, 2004 Yes, McCaffrey was a huge part of the offense. But he DID get hurt a lot. He would get game ending injuries - sometimes two or three times in a game. Of course, much of this came from catching medicine balls when running a crossing route. Also, I won't ever knock a receiver for being too slow. LArgent was too slow, and that guy was one of my favorite players of all time. My wife is hotter than your wife.

lawrocket 3 #73 March 30, 2004 That's my point. He'd be dragged off the field, to hurt to continue. Miraculously, he'd return the next series. It could happen more than once in a game. Bradshaw would do the same thing. I could never figure out whether these guys were heroes, nuts, or a little overly dramatic. I tended to think the latter. THink McCaffrey would ever do what McNabb did? Play a game without sitting out and then find out, "Dang. I had a broken leg." Or the Jim McMahon lacerated kidney move? No. He'd be carried off the field, told he's fine, then go back out there, get dragged off the field in another couple of series, told he's fine, and return for the next series. See my point? p.s. McCaffrey was a damned good receiver. My wife is hotter than your wife.
