pilotdave 0 #1 October 26, 2004 Ok, maybe everyone knows this except me (until recently)... Who is the narrator/tandem student in the RWS waiver video? No checking! Took a friend for a tandem recently and he pointed it out to me. Dave
pilotdave 0 #3 October 26, 2004 That was quick. I shoulda said no tandem instructors that have seen the video 3 billion times. Dave
pajarito 0 #4 October 26, 2004 Sorry. I shouldn't have answered. It was one of those "Ohh!!! Ohh!!! Ohh!!! I know it!!!" moments.

pilotdave 0 #7 October 26, 2004 I dunno how many times I've seen that video and never knew that. Course the only time I've ever seen him is during his dad's funeral. But my friend that did a tandem is very into politics and recognized his voice before even seeing him. Dave

I know his voice without seeing him also.
AggieDave 6 #9 October 26, 2004 Since the easy trivia question has been answered, I'm going to take this time to related one of my favorite quotes from the video: "We're going to go in 5 to 10 secONDs..." No shit Bill, wouldn't have figured that one out when we left the skyvan.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #11 October 26, 2004 And whats with the drinking then going up on another skydive and the cloud clearances on those jumps? WOW.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
pajarito 0 #12 October 26, 2004 QuoteAnd whats with the drinking then going up on another skydive and the cloud clearances on those jumps? WOW. Yup. I was very surprised to see that on an instructional video myself. You know, however, you're the first person to make mention of it to me. I've been doing tandems since 1993. I thought I was the only one to think that strange. Party on! I've got 4 lined up for this weekend.
AggieDave 6 #13 October 26, 2004 I have students ask all the time if we'll have a drink for them when they land. That's pretty annoying, actually. The rumor is that you only have to show the first part, the doom and gloom from ZZ-top behind a desk segment (as a student put it once), but I need to check with RWS on that. It would be much nicer to make a DZ specific ending to the video with current training techniques for our DZ and aircraft.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." I actually think BB shouldn't be in the video at all. He's a nice and very smart guy and has actually been to my Dad and Uncle's House (and signed my logbook) but he's kind of eccentric. Students are always shocked and laugh when they see him first come on the screen. I always have to explain that the person who owns the shop that makes the rig that's going to save our lives really isn't insane. Is that bad?........ I also explain that they have to watch the video and to bear with it. Its "doom doom doom, ok, lets have fun, but we're required to make you watch it...once its done and the paperwork is done, then we can go have the real fun..."--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." JohnMitchell 16 #19 October 27, 2004 My kids have grown up at the DZ watching that tape a zillion times. They can run thru it like the Rocky Horror Pictuire Show, word for word. When my wife and I took our oldest daughter on a tandem this summer, we certainly didn't bother watching the tape . . . again.
