I dunno how many times I've seen that video and never knew that. Course the only time I've ever seen him is during his dad's funeral. But my friend that did a tandem is very into politics and recognized his voice before even seeing him.

Yup. I was very surprised to see that on an instructional video myself. You know, however, you're the first person to make mention of it to me. I've been doing tandems since 1993. I thought I was the only one to think that strange. Party on!

I have students ask all the time if we'll have a drink for them when they land. That's pretty annoying, actually.

The rumor is that you only have to show the first part, the doom and gloom from ZZ-top behind a desk segment (as a student put it once), but I need to check with RWS on that. It would be much nicer to make a DZ specific ending to the video with current training techniques for our DZ and aircraft.

I totally agree and I've been saying that for years. I actually think BB shouldn't be in the video at all. He's a nice and very smart guy and has actually been to my Dad and Uncle's House (and signed my logbook) but he's kind of eccentric. Students are always shocked and laugh when they see him first come on the screen. I always have to explain that the person who owns the shop that makes the rig that's going to save our lives really isn't insane.

Is that bad?........

Damn, I do the same thing. I also explain that they have to watch the video and to bear with it. Its "doom doom doom, ok, lets have fun, but we're required to make you watch it...once its done and the paperwork is done, then we can go have the real fun..."

My kids have grown up at the DZ watching that tape a zillion times. They can run thru it like the Rocky Horror Pictuire Show, word for word. When my wife and I took our oldest daughter on a tandem this summer, we certainly didn't bother watching the tape . . . again.
