VanillaSkyGirl 6 #1 October 27, 2004 I just remembered my dream from Sunday night after I had done my recurrency coached jump earlier that day, then watched the film Van Helsing that evening. I dreamt that I was in some kind of haunted castle, which was actually my parents' mansion. Anyway, I was trying to get recurrent in this crazy place, which was pretty cool visually, I must say. The funniest part of the dream was that my recurrency requirement was that I get recurrent by doing a tandem with this Frankenstein-like guy. I then realized that the guy that was my tandem master was Tallguy. We were supposed to just jump out of the haunted castle and fly (like vampires), instead of jumping out of a plane. It's funny because I awoke from my dreams at around 4:30 am, then fell back asleep and resumed dreaming the same dream! (Btw, sorry Tallguy. You are nothing like Frankenstein, my friend. ) Anyone else have any crazy skydiving-related dreams that you want to share? My skydiving dreams aren't as creative as yours, they're more like videos of jumps I made but more from a cameraman's perspective. ..I see myself, but outside myself. Except one...more nightmare than dream... Still remember it vividly- I had about 200 jumps at the time, in college. I was in the 182 from my old club, flying around at 12.5 when the door just pooped open... Impulsively I hopped out into a perfect arch, looking back up at the plane I see the pilot, a good friend... ... with this horrified look on his face. Only then do I realize I have no rig on! Everything is of course in slo-mo, so I had all kinds of time to think... Do I pray... panic...just enjoy the last skydive, or start flapping like a bird!? I remember thinking about friends and family...things I needed to do, and say... I recall feeling sacred... and mad for screwing up like that. Wondering which would be better...head first and get it over with...feet first to look around that extra millisecond... Finally deciding to survive, I begin tracking for some trees. .....My S/O at the time was a psych major, and gave me the long drawn out analysis of my dreams 'true' meaning. "It's your subconscious telling you that you're ~ to impulsive...have unsettled issues...life going in the wrong direction...shouldn't be skydiving..." I was telling the story a couple weeks later during a 'safety meeting' and one of the old salts says... "That's all bullshit...it's your human survival instinct, ...the 'Never give up gene'... Best skydiving dream I EVER had! MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. We must live life to the fullest EVERY DAY. Don't know why I just didn't... well, I did not hit the ground at 90 degrees... I more slid in like jumping of a motorcycle.... got real dirty... heart was racing...
