labrys 0 #1 October 28, 2004 That pisses me off. So my SO and I are splitting up. It sucks and it's hard enough to deal with... But this was yet another straw on the camel's back. I'm trying to get our DirecTV service transferred to her name because I'm moving out, and this is what they had to say to me: "Thank you for writing DIRECTV. I wanted to let you know that we can only change names on an account due to marriage, divorce, or legal action. If name change is due to divorce/separation and equipment stays at the same service address, we can change the name on the account to the person who is staying at the service address." Yeah, thanks. This is the only time in my life I'd be happy to say I WOULD get a divorce if I COULD because that would mean we COULD have married. I think this is complete bullshit. I know it's small, but the small stuff adds up.Owned by Remi #?
RevJim 0 #2 October 28, 2004 Aaaah, the legacy of a service contract. Ya signed, you're screwed. sorry bub. Either take the shit with you or pay the early service cancellation fee. It's your life, live it! labrys 0 #3 October 28, 2004 True enough... but I "signed" 5 years ago on a 1 year contract for DTV. I pre-paid for the lifetime of the TIVO gear, and bottom line is that if we were married, it would not be an issue. There's nothing early about this.Owned by Remi #?
