Duckwater 0 #5 October 27, 2004 I actually dropped my Old School 20GB iPod today and broke it. I had heard rumors of the new photo iPod and when I logged into apple.com....there it was.....like a miracle......I still have my mini to work out with in the meantime. I would die without an iPod... nacmacfeegle 0 #6 October 27, 2004 I'd rather invest in an Archos. http://www.archos.com/products/fam_photo_video.html I mean, still pictures are sooo last century. They are actually pretty neat wee toys, and video is good enough to be played on a full sized TV. Quality is about the same as a VHS tape, and the compression system handles fast moving action pretty well. Seriously, think about one of these, you could potentially a good portion, if not all of skydivingmovies.com around with you..-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. kelpdiver 2 #15 October 27, 2004 QuoteAnyone else can't wait? I ordered mine just now. Get the Apple Care Plan. It is well worth it. WHY? My reading on Apple's release page is that it can't be used to dump the contents of my compact flash, the whole reason I bought one of these units (Vosonic) early last year. Archos has had working solutions around for longer than that. They may not look as good, but they do the job, and play mp3s and some video formats. Am I missing the fine print, or is it really that useless?
murrays 0 #16 October 27, 2004 You've been able to use an iPod to download photos from flash cards by adding a Belkin doodad for $79.95 since the 3rd generation iPods were released.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I guess that's something, but $80 is close to the total cost of mine. (I had an old 6G notebook drive available)

It's the most user friendly song out there. After that, it's a toss up. I don't like it because it only holds MP3 and AAC files. There are cheaper players out there that have more options and just about the same amount of storage. I look on the el every day and noticed that the iPod seems to be the new status symbol on the block for the yuppies. If I had the cash, I would choose any of the others Dell DJ (on sale for this week), Nomad, Archos, RIO, etc.... Let me ask you this - how often will you have to carry around a ton of photos to show only one person on a tiny backlit screen?_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
