RevJim 0 #1 October 28, 2004 I've been a big Heineken drinker for many a moon. Yep, I loooove my green bottles! Something happened today though. I'm drinking out of a brown bottle and I gotta tell ya, it's DAMN GOOD! My new favorite mass produced brew, in fact. It just drips and oozes pure heaven, I tell ya! Every little drop is ecstacy in flavor indulgence! It is possible the perfect lager, really. Well, "What is it?", I'm sure you're thinking. It's really, really good. Remember that. But then again, it should be. It's Heineken Dark Lager. I could blame alcoholism on these bottles. It's your life, live it! lawrocket 3 #2 October 28, 2004 Rev. Green bottles are no better than clear bottles - useless in preserving the flavor of beer. Beer degrades when exposed to light. In fact, the photodegradation of the isohumulones into what is called "skunky thiol." Fundamentally, it is the same chemical skunks produce. So, when you taste "skunky beer" it really is "skunky." Thus, all beer should be kept out of light. Clear and green bottles are worthless. Brown bottles are even better. Of course, I actually prefer beer from kegs (they don't seel much high quality beer in cans, which I think is a shame). Keg beer is out of light. Hey, Rev., reminds me. I still owe you a fine Cali dark beer. My wife is hotter than your wife.
RevJim 0 #3 October 28, 2004 QuoteHey, Rev., reminds me. I still owe you a fine Cali dark beer. mmmmmmm Dark Beeeer....... Actually, I use the term "green bottles" more as a reference to the general quality of the beer contained with. In essence to seperate a decent beer from that A.B. and Miller swill. This is seriously a really, REALLY good beer! You are right about light, that's for sure. I just used that subject since brown bottles are generally known as holding Miller Lite and Bud Light, two concoctions that can only claim to be beer by the inference that they have the proper ingredients. This is a brown bottle, available without manual labor, that's actually worth drinking! It's your life, live it! lawrocket 3 #4 October 28, 2004 QuoteMiller Lite and Bud Light, two concoctions that can only claim to be beer by the inference that they have the proper ingredients I dunno. At the very least, I understand that Bud Lite is made from rice instead of malted barley... My wife is hotter than your wife.

Oskar Blues Dale's Pale, a quite tasty brew from Lyons Colorado, is available in cans so that we may partake at swimming pools, parks, and shows that don't allow glass bottles. I've tried that Heineken dark stuff It's a bad copy of Double malt "Vol Dam" brewed by Damm Catalunya Spain believe if you've got a specialist licor store near you try it. The normal Heineken I quite like what I can't stomach is that Mexican stuff you stick a slice of lime in, looks an tastes like piss And then what can one say about Glenmorangie pure bliss. Slappie 9 #8 October 28, 2004 Nothing beats a fresh drawn Black & Tan at your local pub!! Closest I can get to a fresh Black & Tan is to buy a 6 pak of Guiness bottles and a 6 pak of Bass ale bottles. Then attempt to make my own. Doesn't always work "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." Can't get it. Then again, can't get Shiner Bock either. QuoteThe normal Heineken I quite like what I can't stomach is that Mexican stuff you stick a slice of lime in, looks an tastes like piss Ahhhh, I'll drink Corona ONLY if the fruit gets nowhere near the bottle. Tastes much better that way. QuoteAnd then what can one say about Glenmorangie pure bliss. Dahlwhinnie, now that's the good stuff! SpeedRacer 1 #11 October 29, 2004 QuoteI just used that subject since brown bottles are generally known as holding Miller Lite and Bud Light, strange association. The best American beers that I've had have been in brown bottles. Microbrewed beer is usually sold in brown bottles, and that's usually what I drink. The local beer made here in Frederick, MD is excellent. Sure Bud is also sold in brown bottles, but that's kinda like saying if it has bottle caps, it must be a bud. (...and isn't Miller sold in clear bottles??) Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
bob.dino 1 #12 October 29, 2004 Corona with lime (no fucking lemon ) is perfect on a hot sunny day. As for whisk[e]y, I like Talisker. It's an Islay whisky and very very peaty. Not to everyone's taste. Other good stuff: Bullet Bourbon. 8 year old Bacardi. Appleton's Special Rum.
RevJim 0 #13 October 29, 2004 Pssst, in the first post I mentioned "mass produced".... Nothing can hold a candle to quality micros or homes. Well, some of them at least (I've had some purely SHITTY micros). It's your life, live it!
