FINALLY found that elusive 'X'!!!

I think I got it down, guys!!! The last 3 jumps have been either ON the white of the 'X', or at least my canopy landed on it when I pulled it in...

IS THAT COOL OR WHAT?!?!? If Acme girl can land on the 'X', ANYONE CAN!!!!

I dont normally try to land in the pea b/c i know about 20 other peole are aiming for the same spot. but it is important to be able to land where you want to!

I started following the absolute best advice on landing I'd ever gotten from my original instructor:

"Under 1000 feet, turn your brain off and just land."

Serious, I had been literally thinking myself into a corner...checking my alti every few seconds, turning where I otta be at 500 feet, blah blah blah....it just never worked out and I was always hiking back to the 'X'. But these last few jumps, under 1k, I quit looking at the alti and just watched the target (and other people in the air, of course! ). I found that when I watch the target, I just kind of automatically turn at the right times to 'end up' there. I also have been finding that point out in front of me where I would land if I made no further turns...then I kinda translate that into a box and shorten it (because you lose the altitude in turns) and from that moment on keep my head turned towards where I want to go, not where I'm heading.

Anyhoo, it worked great for me!

Have you ever been shown the "floating/drifitng ground thoery?"


its kinda like the ground under your feet is drifting past you and the ground out in the distance looks floaty...but the ground that isnt moving is where youre gonna land.( kinda hard to figure out)

anyway, My best landings are when I dont wear an alti,too

EEEWWWW Landing on the X is YUCKAPUCKA.. I told his royal skygodness I would land on the x on my third jump out there...I did and he was still all pissy...the White X has water and nasty yucky stuff all over it.

Thpftftfftftfftftfft!!!! I have not reinjured myself...and I've STOOD 2 of those 3 landings...the first of 3 I knelt down. -Nothing dramatic, just had more forward motion than feet, and knelt on one knee. Still very beautimous!!
